Matix is a teenager!

Matix decided to SKIP his birthday party in order to save up more money to get to his goal of owning a dirt bike. He saved every penny of what he got for his birthday the year before, from Christmas, and from all the chores and extra jobs he did.  The only things he used his money for was for his siblings presents. We were so impressed with his choices that we decided to pay for the difference, and bought him his dirt bike. He was so excited he almost cried. Paul taught him the basics and let him try it out slow until we got helmets for everyone.

He was SO happy to get the helmet, then a few days later Paul bought another dirt bike so the kids to go in pairs. They all learned really fast, but this first day was WILD watching. I was super stressed. Now they do jumps, and have the best control. Thank goodness.

Matix opened cards and gifts from us and grandparents. Solace reused his favorite card given to him by his cousins, and wrote a new note for Matix, so cute. Lullaby and Hawken each got him a chess set, his favorite game.

Cards and money from Grandma Kim and Grandpa Louie, thank you! He used this last bit of money to pay for half of the helmets.

Then out to eat at Mod Pizza for dinner, Matix's choice. Turns out Solace is part monkey and climbed this pole after a worker there with Down Syndrome befriended him and dared him to climb it.

Picnic dinner before Solace headed to practice again. It was a happy day and Matix had a blast.

Here's how Paul fit the new dirt bike to fit in a Prius. Made us laugh out loud when he got back home.

Matix at 13 is a dream teenager. He loves to read, play, and ride his dirt bike. He loves pushing himself to try new and challenging things. He's a risk taker, and always reaches his goals. He wears his hair long, and his nails short. He loves to take care of his siblings, and watch scary movies. He still wants a kiss goodnight and snuggles every morning. He's amazingly ticklish and has a great laugh. He loves his friends, and takes care of our elderly neighbors, just because he sees a need. He's thoughtful and kind and is such a wonderful son. We're so proud of him and the person he is. Happy birthday Matix man.
