The details of Matix's drawings and stories are amazing. I love to hear the story behind the art in general, but Matix's are especially interesting. He names his characters, and has stories about what each are doing, and why. Matix is the most fascinating 6 year old I know.

Paul's birthday
Paul had to work on his birthday, of course. But when he got home we had his presents ready and waiting for him! The kids loved picking out and even wrapping the gifts. We also had the gifts and cards from our parents, and grand parents. It was so nice.
Paul requested a feast of TACOS for his birthday. The kids helped me get everything ready and set the table with the plastic colorful plates because "Daddy likes things to be colorful."
Then after dinner, I baked a cake and the kids all helped decorate. The lightening bolt and wording were Matix's idea. Lullaby wanted polkadots and Hawken wanted to add candies around the edge. I think the cake turned out pretty cute.
Singing to the birthday boy! And tasting our creation. It turned out good, even with all the help.
Happy birthday Paul! You're the best reason to celebrate, ever. We love you. Oh, and a couple more pictures of the cute baby eating cake. He loved it.

Family pics!
Laurel invited us up to her house for Thanksgiving. Since Paul was going to be working all day, I wasn't going to be making our Thanksgiving stuff until Saturday. Then Paul called and said he was getting off EARLY. This never happens. But it did. So we ALL went. The kids played with Joshua and Caleb all day. They swam in the pool and we all ate and ate and ate. Everything was perfect. Thanks for the invite! We love you guys! I have more pictures from yesterday than just these two, but I was really excited to get an updated sibling picture and a family picture! So exciting! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
We are so grateful everyday, but Thanksgiving is a great day to really reflect and see all the goodness and kindnesses in our lives. We have been given more than we need, in every capacity. We are truly thankful for our family, and our beliefs, and our Creator. We hope everyone has a warm and safe holiday. Happy Thanksgiving! Our long list of thankfulness.

food
With it being Fall, even though it's been nice weather lately, I am enjoying trying out new WARM foods with the family. I made these mini chicken pot pies, and everyone loved them. Fresh green beans from Uncle Dale's garden, quinoa, carrots, corn and chicken. Yum! I love fall and all the nice warm foods that come with it.
the hair
Hawken's hair is about 6 inches long now. It's getting pretty wild now. He initially was growing it out because he wanted to be able to put it into a pony tail like a friend of Paul's (who is a boy), and another guy that he saw in Austin with a pony tail. But then he decided he wanted it long like a viking (?) for his party, and will let me cut it after that. Some days, he likes it done up like this. His friends in preschool thought it was crazy. I love that Hawken doesn't care what others think, he does things for himself.

song from Grandpa
Lullaby loves to play babies. She sings to her babies, feeds them, nurses them, tucks them into bed, gets them dressed. She is such a sweet little momma already. This particular day that we were playing babies together, she sang her babies a song (that sounded like a real song), but that I hadn't heard before. I asked her what song it was, and she said, "That's the song Grandpa Charlie sings to me." My Grandpa Charlie died when I was little, and Lullaby has only ever heard stories about him. It made me happy though to think that he is still around and watching over Lullaby. I love you Grandpa, and I miss you.
weird weather
In the last few days, we have had weather in the 40's and we turned on our heat...
Then a few days later, it was warm enough for shorts again and back in the 70's, and we had to turn on our A/C last night. I don't get it.

According to Lullaby
The proper way to put the dishes away, is while holding an umbrella, of course. The world is so much fun with her in it.
FULL
When all 4 are in the tub together, it's a crazy party. They all eventually get clean, and no one drowns, so I call it a win, even if half of the water ends up on the floor or on me. :)
Book-It
Hawken redeemed his first Book-It coupon for all the reading he did in October. I signed up as a "home-educator" and received a big stack of coupons for the preschoolers to earn each month, as they read or are read to at least 20 minutes each day. It's a fun way to encourage a love for learning and books. Hawken was SO proud and excited that he got to order and get whatever he wanted. Upon finding out that the pizza had 4 slices (he asked), he ordered his pizza like this, "Could I order 2 slices with pepperoni and 2 slices with just cheese, please?" Then when we got home he gave Lullaby and Matix each a slice with pepperoni (their favorite) and he gave himself and Solace the plain cheese, even though this was his reward, and he didn't have to share it. Such a sweet boy.
Also, I did the Book-It program when I was little and they had a little pin that you would add star stickers to each month. I LOVED earning my Pizza Hut pizza, and I think it's so fun that now my kiddies can do it! :)

Happy Birthday!!
32 years ago, the man of my dreams was born. 9 years ago I celebrated his birthday with him for the first time, in Wisconsin while he was visiting me, and I was madly in love already. 8 years ago we were newly weds, excitedly guessing and what if-ing our future. 6 years ago, we lived in Tempe Arizona with our new baby Matix, he was probably screaming. 5 years ago, we were living in Dominica, anxiously awaiting the birth of our second little boy, Hawk, who was born just a couple days after Paul's birthday. Then 3 years ago, we lived in Miami, and Paul rode his bike in the pouring rain, everyday and we lived as a family of five in a one bedroom apartment with our new baby Lullaby. 2 years ago, we celebrated in Georgia, a few days after his birthday, because Paul always has to work on his birthday, even when it falls on Thanksgiving. Last year, we moved here to Texas, and baby Solace had just joined our family. It's been a long, fun, adventurous, never boring, road these past few years. Celebrating Paul is celebrating life. He is extremely fun and charismatic and clever and kind and honest and amazing. I'm so grateful for him, my sweet hubby. Really. Happy birthday! We'll see you this afternoon (after working the night shift into your birthday, of course)!
And of course, the only recent picture I have of Paul, is him with the kids. When Paul is around, the world could stop turning, the sun could go out, and I might as well be invisible. They love their Daddy, and it's mutual.

thankful
We made a quick thankful video in preschool on Friday. I loved hearing all the different things that these 4 year olds (+ one 3 year old) were thankful for. Corn, planes, daddy, rainbows... It was pretty cute. Enjoy.
Camo Day
While we were at Chick-fil-A we saw a sign for "Camo Day" and so Stacy bought all the kids camo shirts for the occasion. It was the day before Veterans Day and there were all kinds of fun activities. Thanks Grandma for the camouflage shirts, too bad you couldn't come with us.
They made shrinky dink dog tags (which we used later that week for our preschool dress-up).
They sent Christmas cards to the troops overseas. I had planned on that for preschool too, but I came up with my idea first. I promise. :)
Face painted camouflage and other things.
Solace met a HUGE cow. He was not a fan.
The Little Gym was there and sponsored some bootcamp like courses for kids and they loved it.
Enjoying some of the freebies. Sully looks so big with a cup like that! Such fun! Plus we all left with a ton of coupons for more free things, as is usual for Chick-fil-A, they keep us coming back!
ER visit
Instead of going to the Children's Museum one Thursday (9 days ago now), we went to the ER. As I was unloading everyone from the car, I set up the stroller, got the big boys and Lullaby out of the car and I was unbuckling Solace as Lullaby was standing on the stroller ride along board (where she is supposed to stand), but somehow slipped forward and fell onto the cement. She didn't even try to catch herself and all of her weight was caught on her chin on the sidewalk. It split open and there was blood everywhere. I cleaned up several parts of her that I thought were bleeding, but weren't. The only injury was on her chin, but it bled everywhere. There was about a quarter sized hole, and while cleaning her up, I caught a glimpse of white bone. No thank you. I put on the biggest band aide in my little first aid kit, and drove down the street to the hospital.
When we got to the ER, my phone had died, so the only information that Paul (who was still working) had was a cryptic message right when it happened, "Paul, call me, I need you." That was it. After begging a phone from a resident in the ER, I called Paul and let him know what was going on. We had been there for several hours by that point and I knew Paul was home. He was, and he left to join us in the ER. Then, of course, they came in and finally put in her stitches. She needed 3. Poor thing. The numbing medicine they put on her an hour earlier was working, but she was still scared. They were talking about knocking her out for it, but a large male nurse came and held her down. This was just days after her skateboarding facial road rash had healed. She was a champ and we finally got home an hour after bedtime for a very late dinner and some much needed sleep.
Paul arrived at the ER, while we were getting our car, and we missed each other by minutes. We all made it home, even all the balloon people that the large male nurse made. He wasn't just good at holding little girls in their ER beds while they get stitched up, he was also a glove balloon enthusiast. Lullaby's balloon even had three little x's on the chin as if she got stitches too.
She took a sad looking selfie the next day. Her chin got very pink over the following couple days, and a large scab formed (which Solace later ripped off, ouch!). She was better the minute we left the ER. I never thought the first stitches in our family would have been for this princess baby. Hopefully they are her last.
