Teaching Grandma how to use the iPad. She actually tried out a game or two. :)

HCM

The Children's Museum, when Grandma was here, was as fun as ever. Fake dinner in the fake diner. Who could ask for more? Solace has to taste each food, but is learning to pretend to take a bite instead of actually putting it in his mouth...

There was lots of crafting and creating since it was only a couple days before Valentine's Day. The kids are always so sweet to think of other people.

 I don't know who was more into this tissue paper heart activity, Grandma or Lullaby? They spent the majority of our time right here, while the boys continued to play in various areas. So funny.

More crafts downstairs.

 I made valentines for the kids and my preschoolers. I got a good reaction from everyone when they received them. Thank you Children's Museum.

Play time! Hawken and Matix in the vet clinic trading off being pet owners and being the veterinarian. 

Sully was making silly smoothy faces on the glass until I got there with my camera, then he stopped. Stinker!

For story time, there was a guest reader, Sheila McGraw! She is an illustrator that has done lots of great children's books, like "I'll Love You Forever". I was more excited to hear her read than the kids! She brought a few things from the publisher to show the kids how illustrating works. She makes HUGE paintings/drawings and they copy them and shrink them way down. She brought in a few originals along with the books she was reading. She also talked about binding and how that happens. It was really cool. 

park

Walking at the park is Solace's favorite thing to do. He is in such a curious stage and everything is new and exciting. He discovered dandelions for the first time and wasn't too sure if he loved them or hated them, but either way, he was fascinated. :)

And all my babies have loved the "grab Grandma's glasses" game.  There isn't much to the game, but it lasted for a looong time…

worn OUT

Solace was excited to play trains at preschool last week, but then got very sleepy. He often lays down wherever he is to take a little rest, but that's not usually DURING preschool amidst several loud kids. It was a sleepy kind of day though, because eventually, everyone was laying down. So I put away the trains and we played something more lively to wake everyone up. :)

FaceTime

There are very few things more fun than talking to Alexandra on FaceTime. She is SO entertaining, and grown up at the same time. She didn't want Jolie to talk to me, we had a conversation all on our own. So cute. Love you Ali!

haircut!

I am VERY happy to announce that Hawken changed his mind on his dream to have "a man bun". Where he first heard those words, I will never know. After seeing his own pictures from the soccer party, he thought he looked a bit too much like a girl. He was still whining about a haircut though and after talking it through he finally confided that he was afraid of the little cut hairs tickling his neck. Problem solved! I made him a garbage bag shirt and cinched the top with a chip clip. Some last before pictures, the back was down onto his back, the longest it's ever been. 

He wanted to "hold a ponytail of the cut off hair" so I cut it like that. I actually could have made several ponytails with how short he wanted me to go. He loved it and was SO proud of his handsome self, and non-girly locks. I like shaggy hair on boys, but it's so good to have them cleaned up too.

There were several pieces that I found later on that I missed. He didn't like the electric trimmers, so I had to do it mostly with scissors, which makes for lots of mistakes when you don't really know how to cut hair. It looks pretty good now though. :)

pick-up

When Grandma gets to pick up Matix from school, it's automatically a good day. This only happened about half of the days though,  because Hawken usually BEGGED to stay at home with Grandma instead of driving all the way to Matix's school. So she took turns.

soccer birthday!

Matix's best friend, Logan (from school, not our neighborhood, Logan is a popular name) had a birthday party at an indoor soccer stadium. It was QUITE the event. Matix got into it right away, but I had to convince Hawken to try it.  He was nervous to be out there with BIG kids.

When Hawken did finally join in, he just followed Matix...

Then Hawk got up some courage. He's the boy in red with the looong hair.

Then he started to school the BIG kids. He stole the ball away several times, and ran faster then them, and even scored a goal. He assisted on two other goals too. What? Here he is outrunning everyone.

So proud of himself and his goal!

Wiped out!

Logan was so sweet to invite Matix and Hawken to his amazing party. It was SO fun watching them. And now I know I need to sign them up for a soccer team in the fall, at least Hawken, maybe Matix too. Matix loved it lots too, but was a lot more interested in talking to his friends and being silly than actually playing the game.

baby snuggles

We love our Sully boy, but who doesn't love to snuggle a new little baby?! The kids couldn't get enough of baby Saras, Matix especially, he's such a lover.
