dance competition

Baylee had a dance competition and Paul and I took the kids to cheer her on. It was so fun being in that setting again, but just getting to watch and relax.

The kids loved seeing their cousin up there and got as close as they could. They shouted her name and clapped as much as they could.

Baylee did great and was very into her dance.

Lullaby wore her tutu dress from Auntie Robin to celebrate the occasion.  So adorable.

Here is Baylee with the flower the kids brought for her and her trophy. Isn't she a doll? Yay Baylee!

new header

I made a new header for the blog, as I often do... This time I wanted to look back at some of the old ones. It was fun for me, so I thought I would share. So fun. These are not in order.

Here's the newest one.

the derby!

Paul helped Aidan with his pinewood derby car for Cub Scouts. Aidan had lots of great ideas and drew up his plans beforehand.

Paul was brave and let Aidan do all the work, including using the power tools. :)

Thankfully, Aidan is a very skilled boy.  He came up with the plan to make it into a spaceship. He painted it purple and called it the "purple people eater".

We didn't get to go to the race, but Aidan won SECOND PLACE! Too exciting! He worked hard and I'm so happy he had fun. Paul loved helping him, and I can hardly wait until our boys get to do stuff like that. (Thanks Steph and Grandma Berg for the pics from the derby!)

cousin sleepover

Matix and Hawken were invited for a sleepover party at Mason's house, and they couldn't be more excited. This was their first ever sleepover. Ever. I was a little anxious about how they would do, and prepped them a lot before hand. Turns out, they were fine and didn't need me at all.  As soon as we got there they ran off to play with Mason.

Lullaby played dress up with Baylee for a little bit before we left again.  Baylee gave her a few of her old dress up skirts to keep, which Lulli was very happy about. We really only have capes and swords and other "boy" dress up things, so it's nice to have a few girly things now too.

But when we left Lullaby had a meltdown. Poor thing. She screamed and cried (literally) the whole way home. She pointed to her brothers' seats in the car and called out for them.  It was so sad. Poor Grandpa drove us and had to listen her.

Steph took pictures of their night and when they came back in the morning, they couldn't stop telling me all the little details of their party. Popcorn and movies and staying up laughing and watermelon for dinner and everything. :) They really had the best time. Here are the pics Steph took.
I am so happy they had such a great time. Lullaby was totally distraught all night, but then in the morning when she saw her brothers again, she clung to me and shouted. "MINE." Perhaps there was one benefit to the boys being gone and that was she got me all to herself. Thanks Steph for making the night so much fun for the boys! You are the best.

the princess

At night, I lay on the bed next to Lullaby and watch her drift off to sleep. Her bedtime is an hour before the boys go to sleep, and it's a nice little time for me to spend just with her. First, we sit together on the bed and I whisper sweet nothings to her while she drinks from her cup.  Then I lay her down and tuck her in.  She requests certain babies or stuffed animals each night. Usually her purple bear and at least two babies.  She has to have her yellow blankie on top of her too.
Her tiny hands lose their tight grip as soon as she is actually asleep. What an angel baby...
Two weeks ago, Lullaby finally stopped breastfeeding. 19 months is a looong time for that, and although I liked that closeness with her, we were both ready for her to stop.  She transitioned really well to only drinking milk from her cup, with only one relapse, which I think she needed for closure purposes a few days later. She is turning in to such a big girl all of a sudden. She has tons of words and likes to even sit on the potty and "try" although nothing has ever come out while she sits. :) Lulli has an agenda each day and gets frustrated when we don't follow her script. She gets into trouble and has been visiting time out fairly frequently lately.  She tattles on everyone. She always begs for "beans" (the jelly beans left from Easter).  She is very expressive and still the snuggliest thing. I love all the kisses and hugs and pats that she gives me. We sure love our little princess.

Cookie Cutters

For some reason, my hair and the kids hair grows ridiculously fast. I think mine is mostly the prenatals... I feel like I am trimming the boys hair every other week though, and I don't really know what I am doing.  Hawken's was getting into his eyes more and more and Paul threatened to shave it off! Yikes! Steph told me she was going to take Mason to get his hair cut soon, so I invited us to tag along. :) They go to a place called "Cookie Cutters" and it was the BEST experience. There is a little playset with slide inside for the kids who are waiting.

Each station has a car, or truck or airplane ride-on for the kids to choose and sit in.  Lulli tried out the police car.

There is a TV in front of each station and also iPads for the kids to play with if they need to look down. Really.  Matix and Mason went first. Mason was a pro and got through his cut really fast. Most of his little curls got cut off, but they are already growing back in.  Steph was a little worried.

Lullaby was SO interested in what was happening. She watched Mason the whole time.

Matix was a bit more reserved and wanted to know what she was doing as it was happening. The stylist knew all the characters on the TV and got Matix distracted with the show by asking him questions.  Genius I tell you.

After he was done he got a lollipop and a balloon. Best day ever. And oh so handsome!

Lullaby then also wanted a balloon and had a blast with it. She was swinging it around and screaming and giggling. So funny.

Hawken was last and the most dramatic of cuts. I told her I wanted it pretty short, thinking still that she would just use the scissors, but she pulled out the electric trimmer and went to town. It was wild. I watched huge chunks of his hair fall to the ground... Wow.

She styled it afterward and to get his attention she was flirting with him, which he loved.  Can you tell?

I took pictures of his first time seeing his own haircut.  He really loves it.

Matix's cut was just an evening out and trimming up. Hopefully I will be able to keep it up as long as it grows evenly all over his head.  Hawken's cut was crazy. I was kind of getting emotional (I'll blame the hormones) watching ALL his hair fall to the floor. But I really think he looks adorable and he loves it too. Check out their before and afters... Before pics were from our day skiing two days before.

The handsome boys with their new haircuts and Lulli of course crashed the picture.

After all that fun, we went to Chick Fil A for lunch. My new favorite fast food place for the kiddies.
If you're ever in Utah and find your kid in need of a haircut, I HIGHLY recommend Cookie Cutters. They do great work and the kids have fun. I loved it.
