I love that my kids are at the age that they can actually HELP with things. Each of them have their own jobs. Solace still needs help and reminding, but everyone else does a really nice job most of the time. Matix and Kina have a special relationship and he usually volunteers for extra jobs if it includes anything about Kina.
A day at the park sometimes calls for superhero attire. Just in case you run into any bad guys. Thankfully, Batman protected us and we had a fun day. :)
We have a small backyard, but just behind that is a large communal green space with a few good climbing trees, like this one. It's the best ever.
Sakina is getting old and doesn't do well with long walks anymore, but she can walk to the climbing tree and lay in the shade while the kids climb and play. She seems to really love that. Plus she usually gets extra loves from the kids, which she always appreciates.
We found a little mini hike to try out. We had to park in a cemetery - weird, I know, but it was either that or park on the side of a highway. There is a small unmarked trail by the last parking area. We hiked in and were immediately in the jungle. It was very beautiful.
We walked along the river. The trees all hung with vines. It was seriously stunning.
We got to the falls after a very easy quick walk. It was really buggy, but other than that, perfect.
Some of the kids swam over to the falls and it started to rain. Not much, but enough to encourage more mosquitos to come out.
We watched Paul climb to a 20 foot cliff, but that wasn't high enough. He went up to the tip top. Of course he did. We're guessing the taller cliff, the one he jumped off of was about 35 feet. I got a video too. He's always safe about it and checks for rocks below, but it's still scary watching him.
On the way home we saw several rainbows. We see them SO much here. I love it, and I'll never be sick of it.
The kids got eaten up by mosquitos, so next time there will be more bug spray used, but it was a fun day nonetheless.
Paul work schedule is amazing here. And the location cannot be beat. But the people who work with him are what makes it the best job ever. Everyone is happy, relaxed, and positive. It's so nice to have Paul coming home happy nearly everyday. On the day he left the Nanakuli clinic to move down to his permanent spot once his training was finished, they celebrated him. Seriously. It's the best job ever.
Right on time, this birthday boy started to receive his birthday cards and gifts from his grandparents. Thanks everyone! :) Sully takes a very long and serious time looking at each of his cards. It's really fun.
Grandma Kim always sends additional gifties for the three NON-birthday kids, which is very sweet. They look forward to that. This time it was paints. Thanks Grandma!
Music class was a huge hit, especially the part when they got to try out different instruments. Ms. Mary would teach them how to properly use them, and then they got to try them out. The thunder drum was Sully's favorite, and Lullaby loved any time she was allowed to dance around. :)
Paul as asked to be the doctor for some of the football games here. He's specifically Waianae High's doctor. He gets to sit on the sidelines and go back to the coach's room and eat all the free food, and even bring his kid along if he wants. It was Hawken's turn for a date and he went with Paul to a game. Hawk had a blast and came home LATE. The next morning he told us all the stories.
They do J.V. and Varsity, this was the J.V. team (ours is the team on the left - the big boys). Paul said the J.V. team had boys bigger that the boys on his varsity team from when he was in high school, and the Waianae Varsity looked more like college football. They make BIG boys out here, and they're serious about their football. It's pretty fun.
