Duke's

We checked out a little break near our house. It's okay, and the little river that empties out into it is nice. It's no White Plains, like on Oahu, but it was just our first try.

Matix and Paul are surfing in together. They're in the middle of the picture.  This is their thing.

life

Here are some pics of the day to day here... Lullaby loves making and wearing flower crowns, even to Costco. That's just how we roll here.

Swimming in the pool. As usual.

We bought two little guinea pigs. One is named Tutu, and the other is Shark. They are the sweetest little things, and don't mind all the loves they get from the kids.

Eating at a friend's house and raiding their art supplies to make some impromptu sculptures.

Building magnet castles.

Swimming until dark.

Matix rescuing lost baby chicks in the jungle. Sweet boy.

Paul gets an hour and a half lunch each day, and so sometimes he takes a little afternoon nap. Not the worst job...

Paul is the Hunt's on call doctor. Considering we see and or talk to them nearly every day, it's quite convenient for them.

Kauai

Our transition to Kauai life was made simple mainly because of the Hunt family. They let us stay at their house for two nights and watched the kids while we went to the dock, unloaded the container, loaded a truck, and unloaded it at our new place. Amy of course didn't stop there. She also fed us huge meals and is pretty much my favorite person. She's amazing.

We didn't get our keys the first day we were there so we just got to peek in the windows. So exciting! Plus, we got our first package. As always, from my dad.

Our moving truck here was smaller than the Oahu moving truck, so we had to use the rental truck for the excess. It all fit perfectly, and after a FAST unload/load at the docks we were OFF!

Our dining area, and living room, with a glimpse of the lanai and jungle... and lots and lots of unpacking to do!

The master bedroom is actually the kids bedroom because it is so big. It easily fits 2 sets of bunk beds, a piano, and a good sized area rug for playing. Yes please.

A big thanks to the Hunt kids too. They were so welcoming and friendly. We love this family.

The Hunts have a nice big yard and there was always something to do. So even when we were done with the work, the kids wanted to stay and play.

There is a hidden waterfall near their house that we hiked down to. It was SO pretty, and a much needed break from all the packing and moving and unpacking...

Catching tadpoles!

The kids let the fish in the water nibble on their skin. Not my favorite thing, but they liked it.

Loving the new jungle look of our new island!

This is where Sully preferred to sleep at the Hunt's house. On a chair and ottoman in Becca's room. Silly thing.

When we did finally get into our house, the kids immediately needed some POOL time. We are in a neighborhood again with a pool and the kids love it. We are there a lot.

So, last day of work in Oahu was Wednesday, flew to Kauai on Thursday, got into our new home on Saturday, and then on Monday, Paul started his new job! He's the only doctor at his clinic, and works with really nice and laid-back people. It's a really good fit for us, and it's less than a mile away from the house. So we get to see him lots more. Win-win!

moving day!

Good bye to our Oahu home. It was a 4 bedroom townhouse, in a mostly military neighborhood. Our neighbors were amazing, the kids who lived on the street were amazing. The school was inside the gates, and the big boys road their bikes to and from each day. We had a pool, and secluded beach usually to ourselves. There were downsides, yes, but I want to remember all the fun and adventure we had here. Good bye Oahu house!

Derrick and Ashley (thank goodness), followed us to the docks. The kids did WAY better this day than other days. I think they were excited to finally GO!

So the U-Haul which had been loaded up just the night before, had to be unloaded into a 20-foot container to be shipped to Kauai. They unloaded and repacked SO fast. I helped some, but I was also on kid duty.

Then we dropped off the truck, and signed for our car to be shipped at the dock as well and Derrick and Ashley drove us to the airport. They tried to park and walk us in, but there wasn't enough time. We made the BEST friends on Oahu and they will be so missed.

These kids know ALL the ins and outs of airports. They know just what to do in security lines, and checking in. I am so proud of them.

We had a little time to rest before taking the QUICK flight to our new island home.

Lullaby caught the first glimpse of Kauai.  It's beautiful even from the air.
