more halloween fun

Matix is still obsessed with shoes or really anything he can get on his feet... pumpkins included. :)

The look on Hawken's face is "Why do I always think I want to do everything that Matix does... This is not fun."

homemade costumes!

This year, Stacy made the Halloween costumes, well, mostly... There were a few adjustments after she left. But I'll get to that in a bit. The kids were Sully, Mike, and Boo from the movie "Monsters Inc." Matix and Hawken have watched that movie waaaay too many times already, and are in love with it, AND, since I wanted their costumes to go together, I thought it would be perfect. The first costume she made was Matix's "Sully" costume. He loves it and still begs to put it on everyday. :) Here he is showing her where the horns should go. Cute.

Lullaby was "Boo". Stacy made her costume just a big bag so we could wrap her up as usual and then just slip her in there. It worked out great.

Hawken's "Mike Wazowski" costume was the most complex and tricky to figure out. Stacy made this jumpsuit part first. That was easy (for her).

We decided to make the ball/body out of paper mache. Finding the right sized ball was hard, but we found a yoga ball that seemed about right. Let the fun begin! Ripping up paper and rolling in it on the kitchen floor was the highlight of the day. :)

The boys had a great time, especially Matix, Hawken wasn't a big fan of the sticky mess it left on his hands and he was done after a few minutes. :)

After 5 or 6 layers were on it and dried over night(s) Stacy let the air out of the ball, and then we painted it. After that dried, Stacy cut out holes, added an internal vest like thing to help support the weight on his shoulders, and added the ears/horns on top, and the mouth...

After all the work, it looked like this. Why is Paul wearing it, and not Hawken? Because Hawken decided that he was TERRIFIED of it and wouldn't go near it. I tried everything I could to get him to wear it, I even tried to get Matix to wear it and Hawken could switch to be Sully, but that didn't work either, Matix loved his Sully costume too much.
So, we brought this awesome part of the costume to church and gave it to a little boy there who didn't have a costume yet. Hopefully Javi likes it better than Hawken did. :(

I was super disappointed and waited until the day of the Halloween party (I am such a procrastinator), and I realized it wasn't going to work, so I had to make something else.
Soooo, I made the ball part out of fabric (smaller and hopefully not scary) to put over the jumpsuit Stacy already made. I was going to stuff it so it was plump and round, but Hawken wasn't a fan of that either, so we left it limp... He liked it then and wore it all day and night. Considering all the mess and trouble we went through (mostly Stacy), I am just happy we got him in something! Here are the (almost) final products. Some more glue was added to Mike's eye to hold it up later on. It even cuter now, if you can believe it. These kiddos are too cute.
Thank you so much Stacy for lending your amazing talents to this project! Happy Halloween everyone! :)

sleeping

I have another side sleeping, blankie lover. :) Lullaby is following in the boys' tradition of sleeping, except the pacifier. Some days she likes it, others not so much. Sounds good to me. :)

Lullaby is 6 weeks old!

Lullaby had her 6 week check up and here are the stats, before I forget. :) Height: 25 inches - off the charts, really, if she stayed this tall until she was 3 months old, she would still be in the 98% for height... Wow. Weight: 11.5 pounds - 90%
Here she is in a newborn sized outfit (from the Lopes', thanks guys!) This is the only one we could still manage to squeeze her into, but after this picture was taken, all the newborn sized things (and some really small 0-3 months things) were retired to storage. :) Good job big girl, you are growing so fast!

She smiles now a lot and sometimes lets out a few giggles. She is so sweet and still is the perfect baby. She really is so good. Hawken wanted in on the pictures. She started smiling at him, but it was hard to catch a really good one in a still shot.

I took a little video to capture the smiles better. In the first little bit of the video, she wants to snuggle, and every time I touched her cheek, she would nestle in. Awww... I love her. Happy 6 weeks Lullaby!

frosting

Why do they make Halloween cupcakes with BLACK frosting?! And why did I think it was a good idea to give them to my not so neat little boys for a treat? :) I guess this mess was just as much my fault as it was whoever decided black frosting would ever be appropriate for a snack targeted at children.

how we roll

This is how we go everywhere now. Lullaby in the stroller, Matix on one side, Hawken on the other, both holding the stroller sides. The boys are so good to hold on. They make me happy.

fun daddy

The boys love all of Paul's silly and inventive games. Like this one... the "milk shake game", which he thought up on the spot. Such a fun daddy!

love

I love these little boys. That's all. I love them. I love Lullaby too, I just don't have a new pic to post of her. Shocking I know. But anyway, I love these kids.
(Can you tell when I skip napping with them to get some things done? Like... updating the blog? :)

beach and seaquarium

Day at the beach with grandma Stacy! Again we found a jellyfish. This time it was HUGE and pink-ish. Weird. Stacy got it out of the water for us. Later, Hawken found another one and saved Stacy from getting stung. Good job Hawk!

Our newest little beach baby! Her first visit wasn't her favorite, but now she likes it, hooray! Well, at least she tolerates it, I can't really tell what she likes quite yet. :) And you can really see how chubby she is getting. I love that!!

This is a typical Hawken face. Talking! This kid N.E.V.E.R. stops! It is always something that is REALLY important and he will repeat what he is saying until you acknowledge him. Sometimes he says, "Hey! I'm talking to you!" Love him.

Is Matix posing or what? This should have been a photo shoot... if only he would put down that STICK! Why is he always carrying something like that around? :) Silly boy!

Hawken, my water boy. Spent the whole time touching water. He can't get enough of it!

I caught a few unposed Matix-grandma moments... There were lots of these. He is still a grandma's boy for sure!

Grandma and her grandsons. Cute.

Lullaby spent some quiet time in her stroller underneath a palm tree. What a life. She was making the BEST faces. I had to include a few of my favorites, and YES, there were MANY more. :)

Then we walked back to the car, changed to dry clothes, and then through the parking lot to Seaquarium. We love it here and have really used our passes a LOT!! Thanks to Liz, and then my mom for getting us passes. (Liz, sadly, your pass has expired, I think I still owe you $10, huh?) Walk = perfect opportunity for extra snuggles.

We always have fun here. So much to see and do. If you're ever in Miami, I recommend it.
