a new day

So in the past few weeks Hawken has reached a few milestones. Yay Hawken! He can sit up by himself now, without tipping over (unless he is sleepy).

These pictures are from a photo shoot gone bad. :) Matix thought it was much more fun to try to scale the mountain of pillows than sit for some pictures. Of course. :)

I got some cute ones anyway...

Hawken also joins us at the dinner table now. We used to just let him go around in his walker while we ate. Sometimes he just plays, and sometimes he eats with us.

The crawling though, hasn't really progressed. He can scoot around really well, but it isn't truly crawling yet. I wonder if he will ever really crawl, or if he will go straight to walking...? Watch for yourself.

So if you voted on the poll for 4 or 5 months, you're sort of right, because he IS moving, but if you were voting on a REAL crawl, we will have to wait and see when that happens. :)

Mr. Whippy

Yes, Dominica has an ice cream truck... Well, and ice cream VAN. :) We had heard about it from some of our friends, but it was never in our neighborhood until recently. We were having lunch when we heard the Harry Potter theme playing outside. :) Paul and Hawken ran out to get some.

They don't sell ice cream bars or snow cones or anything. They just sell small cups of ice cream. We got cookies and cream. Yum!

As you can see, Hawken was MORE than excited to see it. He really thought we might give him some. Silly little baby! :)

Family Home Evening

We went to the Lunt's for Family Home Evening (FHE) a few weeks ago.

Lucy serenaded us with some songs, Bryce read some scriptures, and then Paige made this yummy treat. It was popcorn with homemade sweet caramel-like drizzle over it. Matix ate his weight in popcorn... it was THAT good. :) Thanks for having us over. It was SO fun.

4 Years!

4 years ago today, Paul and I got married in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. It was an amazing day. I can hardly believe it was 4 years ago already... In these past few years we have done SO much. Our best accomplishments have been having our 2 little boys join us and make us a family.

I feel so happy to call Paul my hubby. :)

Paul never leaves me bored. He inspires me on a daily basis to be a better person. He is the Father of my children, the love of my life, and the man of my dreams. Happy Anniversary Hubby! I love you!

River Pools

We went to the river pools with the play group last week. It was so much fun. Quite a large group came and everyone had a good time.

Hawken and I even got in a picture or two. Imagine that! :)

Here is a picture of all of us. So much fun. We also tried to get a picture of all the kids lined up, but some of them (Matix included) thought that was a terrible idea and cried when we tried to pose them... Maybe he thought I was stopping him from playing...?

Here we are on the way to the pool. Hawken was admiring the view and actually enjoying the ride in the double stroller... He usually insists on being in the baby bjorn. :)

One of the construction workers who is building the new grocery store pulled a mango down for Matix from a tree next to their work site. Matix is becoming more of a local. He showed me that he knows how to bite into a mango skin and peel it all by himself. :) It was a yummy snack for him to eat on the way to the pool.

At the pool we met up with Emmy and Liz. Emmy played peek-a-boo with Matix. Such cute little friends.

Hawken took a dip with Liz. Check out his little chubby baby self. I love it. :) Oh, and his onesie tan... Can't help it when you live on a tropical island.

Matix loves Lucy

The power went out (which happens for seemingly no reason at all). We have a generator, but it hadn't been turned on yet, and we were dying of heat. So, we went up to the CAC with all it's glorious air conditioning. The boys were a lot happier. Matix was especially happy when Lucy came. He loves her and she is SO sweet with him. :) She was trying to watch cartoons, but Matix had other ideas...

Hawken is SO close to crawling, but when he is up on all fours he only moves his legs. His arms stay still until he flops down and scoots forward. He reaches and then pulls himself up again to all fours, walks his feet forward and flops down again... He can definetly move around, but how do I teach him to use his arms? I know he is only 5 months old, but I think he is strong enough to do it.

So what do the moms do while we have play group? Well, last week we played this crazy needle on a thread game. :) I know, all the hubbies tease us, but we have fun, so who cares? :) The game is supposed to predict how many more children you will have and what sex they will be.... Kelly should have 5, wow! I love Shane in the background, smiling at the thought of being a big brother. :)

Anyway, the kids have a great time together too. Shane and Emmy and Matix are such good little friends. :)

Emmy pushed Matix on the swing. So sweet. Both kids as happy as can be...

Until they both want a turn at the same time. Of course! :)
