Last of June

Father's Day came and went and was a nice day for Paul. We got him lots of treats and gifts and tried our best to make him feel as special as he is. He is such a wonderful dad.

We went for what was supposed to be a very long hike, but we got to a lovely spot where the path crossed a river and we stopped there and played all day. The water is a lot colder in Utah, but Matix, Hawken and Paul all braved the icy water anyway.

Lullaby LOVES her new dolly from Liesl.

Solace watching Paul doing chores in the yard, so helpful. Also, see all that beautiful lavender?

Kitten cuddles, my favorite.

Paul got a little cold, but watching movies in the theater room was still something he was excited about. He fell asleep after 10 minutes.

Solace loves math, as always, and likes to make and solve math equations from wherever he sees numbers. This time he was using the number of legos listed for each set, and adding them together. This went on for far longer than the video clip.

We got a lawnmower, and the kids love it so much, they have to take turns doing it.

Catching up with Big Island friends. Lullaby figured out the filters and had a great time!

There is only one location in all of Utah that recycles styrofoam, so we FILLED our van with all the different styrofoams to bring to Park City to recycle. It was a long drive, but worth it since we had so much. All the new things we bought came heavily packaged.

Paul and I had lots of dates, one of the best ones was going to a massage chair place, trying them all out, and picking our favorite. So fun.  We counted most of our errands the first month we were here as dates, since it was usually just the two of us.

I love Nathan Pyle's cartoons. They make me laugh every time.

I found this note that Matix had written about Hawken. I love how much they love each other.

We tried out all the different parks and playgrounds in our neighborhood, including the school playground, there are 4 within walking/bike riding distance. So fun.  And we picked up some friends along the way.

We headed up to a reservoir with the Kovacs for a day of paddling.  The water was cold, as per Utah usual, but the company can't be beat.

Date night our with the Hunts. Amy is in nursing school, and is so busy, it's hard to get them out of the house anymore. So when they get any little break, we jump on it!

Kitten cuddles.

We found out that there is a "fire season" here in Utah and our house was in the direct path of a large and fast moving fire... This happened after living here for less than a month. So we packed up our go bags and grabbed the cats and dog and headed to Farmington to stay with Krystal and Kipp for a night. It was stressful as we sat in the car in the line of others trying to evacuate, while the fire trucks headed the other way, and we could see the fire and plumes of smoke.

We only had to stay with them for a day, and were very grateful for their generosity and got to head home after lots of good food to a house that still stood, perfectly safe and unburned.

Hawken and Lullaby had to get a few shots to start school, and we got to go to Paul's new work. They had this big welcome poster for him in the front, which Hawken and Lullaby thought was SO cool!

First real day of work, he's still a bike commuter and loves it!

I was invited to join the girls in our church for an activity... It wasn't really my thing, but the girls were very nice.
