Matix's Kindergarten Music Revue

At the beginning of April, Matix had his Kindergarten Music Revue at his school. He was VERY prepared for his moment in the spotlight. He loved it.

There are 6 kindergarten classes, so they sang 6 songs and each class got to be on the stage for one song. All of the classes sang every song, but only one was highlighted each time. Matix was easy to spot in the crowd because he's always waving and blowing kisses. Sweet thing.

Matix found us right away as his class got up on the stage, ready for their song.

They sang "You Are My Sunshine", a favorite in our house.  He had been practicing his actions all month.  I got a video clip, and another parent sent me theirs too, because she said Matix was looking so cute. And he was, but her clip had low sound quality, so I didn't include her clip.

Pleased with the good job he did, waving after getting off the stage.

Hawken and Lullaby were less than impressed with the music. They were bored to tears. Thankfully they were moderately entertained with taking pictures of themselves, for a little while at least. I love the pictures of them making faces with Paul, and the ones of Paul clapping high over his head, he's such a good cheerleader.

There was also lots of coloring. Lullaby always colors everything some shade of pink. And those eyelashes...

After the performance, we got a few pictures with some of Matix's favorite friends. Mostly girls. Of course.  Destiny and Francesca are two of his "girlfriends" who he plans to marry one day...

This is Ms. Jodie. She took over the class when Matix's teacher left to have her babies. She is SO good with him and the whole class. We sure lucked out.

The kids wanted a picture on the big cow statue at the school before we left. I bet they're not supposed to climb on it, but no one told us not to...

And a family picture before we left. Great job Matix man! You're a beautiful singer and do great on stage! We love you!

nice

I love that my kids pick flowers for me. And I love that the weeds that grow in Texas are particularly pretty.

magnet board

We bought this sheet of metal at Home Depot in the heating and cooling area. I have been eyeing up a magnet board at Lakeshore that's less than half this size for about $50… That one does have a border, but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on something so simple. So I bought this huge one (2 x 3 feet) for less than $10, closer to $5 I think, but I can't remember exactly. I drilled holes in the corners and mounted it myself. It makes for a perfect story time board in preschool.
My mom sent me a ton of little story characters (thanks Mom!) that were already colored and laminated. I just added some magentas to the back and voila! Perfection.

school

Matix and Zane walking to school again. So sweet.  Not much to this picture, except that I cannot believe KINDERGARTEN is almost over! How has this year gone by already?

Children's Museum

There is a new(ish) area in the Children's Museum that seems rather boring to me, but has become a favorite building area for the kiddies. Lullaby knows how to spell her name now and insists on writing it, building it, saying it, singing it, as often as she can.

working hard

Solace works really hard on art projects. He concentrates and won't be distracted.  He'll call to me to see his work and wants recognition, but then goes right back to it.  He takes his art very seriously and can sit with a project for a LOT longer than the big kids. Maybe we named him after the right person…

Watching Daddy

Watching as Daddy rides his bike to work in the mornings is an old tradition. It hasn't happened much since we've been in Texas because of Paul's crazy work schedule, but in preparation for his upcoming Rim to Rim to Rim hike, along with his nice rotation schedules these past months, he's been riding a lot more. The kids love watching him go, and scream sweet things to him as he pedals away. They love their Daddy SO much.

preschool

A new favorite game to play at preschool during recess is hide-and-seek, which is pretty silly considering there are only a handful of places you can actually hide in the backyard… But they love it. There are only 6 more days of preschool until our "graduation" party. Hawken is pretty sad about it being over, and so am I. He loves having his friends over so often!

Getting ready!

Hawken is ready for Kindergarten! I signed him up at the best school that he got into (through the magnet program). It's not my favorite, but it's close in proximity to Matix's school, and that should help with the drop-off and pick-ups. He is SO excited to be starting kindergarten, and as much as I know he is ready(!!!), I will be missing this guy SO much!

park days

Park days are still our favorite days. When the big boys were little, we LIVED at parks and playgrounds. Now our schedules are a lot busier and park days only happen a couple times a week, if that. But they sure do love it when we do go!

swimming!

In the beginning of April, we started swimming again! The pool is heated, so even on the "cold" days (in the 70's), it's plenty nice for us!  It's a lot easier taking 4 kids to the pool alone now that I'm more confident with the big boys' swimming skills. They wear their floaties some of the time, and then ditch them for some goggles.

Since we pick up Matix and go there straight from school, we also have to pack dinner. They love eating poolside, even when it's something lame like corn dogs. :)

Solace always makes out with the CPR guy, which is so cute. I love this baby.

Easter dinner

For Easter dinner we went to our friends' house. It was such a nice night. We stayed way too late and everyone enjoyed themselves. The kids all got along really well, so the adults had lots of time to chat. Lullaby was especially excited to see "her Zoey". There are several Zoeys that we know now, and this one she calls, "my Zoey". Cute.  Dinner was delicious too and I got away with only bringing a couple things, Makenzie made everything else and it was amazing!

Easter egg hunt - our house

Our Easter egg hunt this year went FAST! I hid some eggs harder than I thought the kids might be able to handle, but they loved the extra challenge. Solace had so much practice at all the other egg hunts, he finally knew what to do when it came time for our hunt.

Getting these 4 to stop stuffing their faces for a 10 second window and all look at the camera was nearly impossible. I love these kiddies and their candy-loving ways.

And a few more of sweet Sully boy. Last Easter he was so tiny, and now he can keep up with the big guys (mostly). Love this guy!

And of course a video of the hunt. They were very excited and it was hard for me to catch everything that was happening. Happy Easter!
