meet Flyer

There was a bird in the road, that wasn't getting out of the way of cars. I don't know if it had already been hit, or what, but it wasn't acting normally. The kids we watching from their tree fort and decided they needed to rescue it. They befriended it and he let them hold him. We fed him water and took good care of him until he was ready to leave. The kids were kind of hoping that he would forget how to fly so they could keep him forever, but he remembered. :)  He was a very sweet little bird though. 

pool!

We have never lived in a neighborhood (or a house) with a pool, until we moved here. There is a large pool (but the deepest area is 4 ft), and a keiki pool. Keiki means little child. That pool is in a fun swirly area, so the kids wander through it, and it's only 1 1/2 feet deep, with small shade covers and palm trees. There are also hot tubs, but we rarely go in there. We really love it here. We could walk, but usually ride our bikes here. So nice!

The bath tub here doesn't have an overflow drain, so it can get really full! The little kids especially love it. :)

Sandy Beach

On the East side of the island is a small beach called Sandy Beach. It's pretty notorious for having strong surf. The stories were all true and this beach was crazy scary. Lullaby and Solace had floaties on and only after being there for a long time, did I even get the camera out. The waves pushed really hard and fast if you caught them right. We love giving the kids experiences like this to perfect their skills and work on their swimming. They are such strong swimmers now. We are so proud of them.

East Side

Our adventuring took us to the East side of the island for some exploring and sight seeing. We found some rocky cliffs near Waimanalo to check out. It was so beautiful.

I love the natural patterns that happened on the rocks there from the waves rushing in and out. Sully wanted in on the pictures, of course.

We stood in the dry area and watched the big waves crash and blow up really high. I caught one on video, but there were bigger ones than this.

A very patient stranger tried to get a family picture for us when one crashed, but the kids couldn't stand waiting for it. So we got this for our group shot. Still gorgeous. I can't believe we live here.

White Plains

We bought some boogie boards right away when we got here, and since have acquired 2 surf boards as well. Our favorite beach to go surfing at right now is called White Plains Beach, and is about 15 minutes from the house. We sometimes go early in the morning before Paul has work, and we ALWAYS go on Wednesdays when Paul has off. Sometimes Saturdays too. Turns out, we really like it here. Go figure.

We go to our beach a lot. It is so nice to have one so close! We only ever swim there though, since the waves are too little to surf there. It's so picturesque!

Plus, it's close to Pearl Harbor. So we get to watch the big battleships come in and out! So exciting!  The kids love it!

new bikes

Before we got here, we didn't know if the neighborhood would be a good bike riding neighborhood or not. We didn't bring the kids old bikes, but as soon as we got here, and saw our awesome cut-de-sac we knew we had to get them bikes as soon as possible! Lee and Stacy gave us money for bikes for all the kids as early birthday gifts. Hawken was the first to get a new bike. He was SO excited! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

North Shore

We went up to the North Shore so Paul could show us some of the places he loved up there. We saw his old house, and went to the beach, and ate good food and shave ice. Yum!  It's so beautiful up there. I love it.

The kids had a great time playing in the tide pools and climbing around on the rocks. They also found lots of little creatures. It's such a great place for exploring!

The big boys found this little spot that was perfect for tiny cliff jumps. These boys are certainly Paul's.

After living here for just a couple days, but going on lots of fun adventures, Paul and I got this note from Matix. Apparently he loves it here too. :)
