fun

On Kauai (and lots of other places) there is a game where people paint and hide rocks all over the island. Sometimes they will post pictures as clues on their FaceBook page. So the kids and I have taken up rock hunting. It's really fun. Lots of times we get there too late, but sometimes we do get a rock or two and that is really exciting. Then we re-hide them in another place. The first attempt was a bust, but we found a great playground and played there all day instead.

A few days later there were more hints at the same park, so we tried again (only after Matix found and named and kissed a lizard he caught).

This time we found not one...

not two...

but THREE rocks, all in one hunt! It was so much fun.

Then we played at the beach for a while, before the storm rolled in.

And after the rain stopped, the kids played on the swings to dry off.

Sully pulled up his shirt and posed like this for the picture. He laughed so hard when he saw himself... Silly boy.

guinea pigs

Our family has been without a pet for several months now, and the kids, especially Hawken, have been NEEDING one. Our place is quite small and not the best place for a dog, or cat. We decided on guinea pigs. They are pretty low maintenance, and live in a cage mostly, but are big enough to hold and snuggle. We got the two snuggliest piggies ever. They are named Tutu and Sharkie. We wrote down our choices, and picked out two names, and that was it.  Solace had picked Sharkie, and Lullaby had picked Tutu. They are cute little puff balls, and we love them. They eat from our hands, and run to us when we are near by, and hop and squeak when they want to say hi. They are too cute.  They were born on Valentine's Day, so they are just over 6 months old now, and 4 months old when we got them. 

homeschool

We have decided, for many reasons, to try out homeschooling this year. Matix is in 3rd grade, Hawk is in 2nd, and Lullaby is in kindergarten. One of the best parts is that we are part of a program that allows us to receive some of the state funds to supplement our homeschool education. I ordered lots of things for us to use in homeschool. It was like Christmas in July, especially for this ex school teacher. We just couldn't wait to use some of the modeling clay, so one night we stayed up late creating. It was so much fun.

Hanalei Bay

Hanalei Bay is as beautiful as you can imagine. We stayed and played there, even through the rain. It was another fun day with friends. The kids jumped from the pier, the grown ups tried out their best flips... It was a fun day, all around.
