beach day

We went to the beach with the Hunt family, as usual. They were about to move and their last weeks o the island were spent almost entirely with us.  Hannah let me braid her hair.

Sully played with sticks, by himself, for over an hour. He was completely enthralled.

We stayed for a long time and loved it all.

Just before calling it quits, we had a long jump contest and a spin until yo get dizzy and then run contest.... It was super fun.

good byes

We were invited over for dinner at some church friends houses before leaving the island, and it was nice to get to talk story and say our goodbyes in a much less rushed way.  Before leaving, Uncle and his grand-daughter serenaded us with some songs on the ukulele. So nice.

bridge jump

When picking up Matix and Ethan from paddling, they said they learned a new jumping spot into the river. It was in a scary looking (but perfectly safe) area. They climbed up and INTO the old cement bridge underneath the new one where cars now drive, and walk along until they reach the deepest spot in the river, and jump. It was unsettling watching the first time, but the coach reassured me that it was very deep there and the bridge was safe.

diving

Paul went out diving with Andy a couple times before their move too, and his ear felt fine. He had an injury and was worried it would get worse with a dive, but it seems to have healed and he was able to dive again. Andy took these pictures. So fun!

These two pics are from another dive with Andy. The thumbs down is because there is still a little crab in this pretty shell he found, so he couldn't keep it.

best friends

Hawken is good at making friends, but far and away, Jonny has been Hawken's BEST friend. They were inseparable. It was horrible thinking about the Hunt family moving away knowing how much these two would miss each other. Up in Jonny's tree house this is what they wrote on one of their last days playing together. "Jonny and Hawken were here.  Friends forever." These pictures made me cry.

pool days

We loved our Kauai pool and spent so much time there. The kids usually had it to themselves, but sometimes we'd have friends over too.

Then back to the house for some ice cream treats.

random pics

Getting shave ice from Wailua with our friends, yes please.

More of the bathroom renovations. It was a slow process, doing one thing at a time when we could, but the end result was awesome. I love how handy Paul is, he can do anything!

Does your Costco sell Lychee? Ha ha ha, we laughed out loud when we found these there, and of course bought some. Yum!

In June, our friends who lived in Vacationland on the Big Island, lost their home to lava. It was very surreal to watch it on google maps inching closer and closer, until it was completely gone. That whole area was a treasure and so sad for it to be gone. Our friends are okay and have moved, but it was a terribly sobering event.

Solace loves a crazy hair style in the tub, and always lots of bubbles.

Swishy decided that he doesn't love the nice dog bed we bought for him, and prefers to sleep in any one of the kids beds... He's spoiled already.

Lazy pool days over and over and over again.

Matix has decided he wants to grow out his hair so he can donate it. It has to be 10 inches or longer of donated hair and he doesn't want to have short hair once it's cut either, so he has to grow it out EXTRA long to do both. He's such a handsome boy.

Changed my hair again. Bright red, orange that faded nicely into orangey-yellow. So fun. Before and after, bleach and color.

Hawken's map included love birds in a nest. I love it so much.
