Matix's Lego Party!

Matix had his 6th birthday party (finally!) at the Fire Truck Park. He wanted to invite too many people, so they wouldn't all fit in our house. All in all, there were almost 30 kids (plus babies and parents). Wow. Here is an ALMOST group picture.

The Fire Truck Park was the perfect place for a party. The kids played and had fun while I set up and frosted the billions of cupcakes. I made lots of little chocolate molds in Lego brick and Lego mini-figure shapes to go on top. I also made a piñata. I didn't do any games, and I LOVED the way this party went. It was very easy and fun. Paul got there just before the party started.  The birthday boy was very pleased with the display.

I set up a little area where the kids could color their own mini-figure (which only a couple of kids were actually interested in). We also made Lego crowns, which lots of kids wanted.

It was a great day and after singing and eating cupcakes, we broke open the piñata. Since I made it, I thought it would probably break open quickly, but it took a while. The kids loved it and no one got hurt. It was lovely. Matix helped me with the treat bags. I wrote each child's name on the top and wrote "Thanks for coming!" and he signed his name. Which is a lot of work when you've invited your favorite  BILLION people... I made his treat bag extra special.

Matix wanted to open presents, which isn't my favorite thing to do at the party, but seems to be fairly expected. He was totally spoiled and walked away with half of the Lego store. THANK YOU to everyone who came and celebrated our special boy with us.

Matix also got some money from one of his friends, and he spent it before we left the party. The ice cream truck drove by, and that money actually leapt out of his pocket and into the hands of the ice cream man... I saw it happen. Here he is with his THREE DOLLAR popsicle.

Some more pictures from the day, including my new favorite family picture of us. And a video of the day. Happy happy happy.

Lullaby's Pony Party

Lullaby had her PONY PARTY, which she talked about for weeks beforehand.  She was so so so excited. I made lots of fancy heart cupcakes, per her request, and had a bowl of apples in different colors, also per her request. We also decorated with lots of little ponies, her favorite thing right now. She was very specific. We blew up balloons and hung up streamers and waited for friends to arrive. Here are some table pics.

Then she and Solace and Matix opened their gifts from Auntie Robin while we waited for Lullaby's friends to arrive. Thanks Robin! You are the best present picker!

Then friends got there and we sang Happy Birthday to our princess baby, and ate cupcakes, and played, and opened presents. It was a lovely day. Lullaby has so many sweet friends who came to the party. Thank you to everyone for the gifts and for coming to celebrate with us!

The party ended outside, riding bikes and skateboards around the cul-de-sac. Paul gave rides to a few friends too. They loved it.

This is a secure man right here... Pink shirt, princess crown, and all MINE. :)
Our neighbor has a horse, and he said he would bring the horse for the party! What? Sounds great right? Well, then it turns out he had to work, and couldn't make it. Boo. Only a few of the friends knew that he might come, but it was a little disappointing still. Lullaby was just so happy to have all her friends over, she didn't even notice. Maybe next year... Happy Birthday Lullaby Loo, we love you!  And of course, a video of the afternoon.

sticker guy

I am procrastinating posting about Lullaby and Matix's birthday parties. There are lots of videos and photos that I don't want to sort through. I know eventually I will, but there are a million more things I would rather do. In the meantime, I will post this picture. This is the sticker man at the YMCA. He sits in the entryway and gives stickers to the kids. When he puts the sticker on their hand, he has the nicest little speech that he tells them. About the kids being special and wonderful and kind, and how no one in the world loves anyone as much as their mom and dad love them. So sweet. The kids always leave SO happy. He is such a sweet man.

costumes!

I know it's a bit early, but I couldn't wait. These kiddies need to be seen in their costumes. Adorable. I know. :) All super heroes this time. Solace is SUPERMAN! Lullaby is CAPTAIN AMERICA PRINCESS! Hawken is WOLVERINE! Matix (as usual) is BATMAN! They are SO SO excited for Halloween to get here. We may start a countdown today! :)
