morning surf

Our Wednesday mornings are one of our favorite things right now. We often go to the beach and play in the sand while Paul surfs. These kids have no idea how lucky they have it. This is such a good life.

library

The library in Kapolei has a great children's program and besides regular story times, and puppet shows, there are play times too. They get out lots of toys and games and the kids have a blast. These pictures are deceiving, and there are lots of other kids there. So much fun!

There is also a great playground out in front of it. Who doesn't love a good playground?

daddy date

Matix got to go on the next daddy date. They went to the football game too, since Hawken had talked it up so much. They really had a great time, and came home LATE. I love that we really try hard to individualize our relationships with each of the children. They are so wonderful. :)

life at the pool

Lullaby is a great swimmer now, although we usually bring her floatie to the ocean still, those waves can be scary. At the pool though, her favorite thing is to dive down for rings.

Hawken almost always gets cranky when we have to leave, and pouts. Sometimes he pouts while IN the water still. Rough life. Pool after school for ONLY 3 hours.

Lots of potty breaks for this guy. LOTS. I think I might spend more time in the bathroom now than in the pool.
Matix, of course, is always busy with his friends. Most of the kids at the pool are kids he knows from school, so it's like a party everyday.

daddy love

The amount of things that Paul forgets at home, when he goes to work, is amazing. He rides his bike, and changes his clothes when he gets there, so there is lots of room for error. I have brought him pants, shirts, his helmet, even underwear. The kids and I don't mind having an excuse to go visit him though. :)

best friends

This is Ella, one of Lullaby's besties. We invited them to swim in our neighborhood pool one day and they made the long drive (They live in another city here on Oahu).  Lullaby and Ella had a great day.

Sully

Another lazy Wednesday with the little two. Paul is trying to get Sully excited about surfing. He really only tolerates being on the surfboard if Paul is holding him, but that's a start.

Flores move to Hawaii

In the beginning of September, the Flores family moved here to Hawaii. They stayed with us and when we went to get them from the airport we brought them all lei's that Paul and the kids made from the Plumeria trees near the house.

They brought a LOT of stuff. They filled the Uhaul, and my SUV.

The kids were especially excited to see them, and show them around the neighborhood. The climbing tree and seesaw were the favorites.

bored

Our church ward here has lots of baptisms, and I wanted Matix to see a few to get an idea of what he might be doing. Sometimes though, there's lots of waiting. It's hard to wait, but we always find some way to entertain ourselves...

patient

Solace doesn't sit still for very long ever, unless he's sleepy and snuggling. But most of the time he's on the move, so it's quite surprising that he loves getting his toe nails painted, and will sit still for as long as I tell him to, while he waits for it to dry.

Hawaiian Studies Info

Matix's Hawaiian Studies teacher, Makua, teaches him such interesting facts and information about this beautiful island of ours. We love it here. (Matix didn't want this video taken, he was embarrassed that he might make a mistake, so I pretended not to video it. Ha ha, got him!)

games!

Playing games after naps during the week, or Sunday afternoons is a family favorite. We sure love it. These pictures crack me up though, Hawken especially has SUCH an expressive face. I love playing games with them.

Pray For Sets

We went to the beach on the west side that is almost as far as you can go north on the island. The perimeter road doesn't go around the whole island, so we went as far as we could get and stopped at that beach. It's called "Pray For Sets", which sounds like something else when you say it... It is just stunning to see. The kids loved running from the big waves and playing in the sand and trying to boogie board. Such a beautiful island we live on.

hummus mustache

Mustache is no longer Lullaby's favorite word, but she does use her food to make mustaches pretty often... Weirdo. :)

beach babes

I just love this beach-y family of mine. The kids LOVE the water and the sand and the ocean breeze. It's so nice to have so many lovely beaches at our fingertips. Hawaii life is a GOOD life.

talented boy

Hawken has been really into drawing lately, and loves to show me his latest creations. He usually gives them away to his friends or brothers or sister, so I have to take pictures or I'll never get to see it again. :) He's so creative and talented.

sweet girl

Lullaby was supposed to have a playdate with her friend Ella, but the day of, Ella got very sick. Lullaby was sad her friend couldn't come and play, but she was even more upset that Ella was sick, so she made her a get better card. It was really sweet.  I wrote the words and she drew a picture of her and Ella together.
