The kitchen before pictures were pretty bad. No appliances, broken cabinets, laminate countertops, leaky pipes in the sink, water damage to the floor, missing and broken areas, etc. We had an electrician friend come and run wire and a new outlet for an oven. Then we got to removing the old cabinets, fixing the floor, laying new flooring, all in preparation for the oven and dishwasher to arrive. We wanted that done first.
Planning and ordering the new cabinets. We made it slightly different that the original design to be able to fit a dishwasher in, and to center the sink below the window. We lived with only a sink for a long time because ordering cabinets on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean takes a while...
Demo days had to happen when Paul wasn't working because we needed his help and because it was SO loud. The kids are SUPER hard workers, and we all helped.
Once everything was out, and the floors were repaired, we were ready for the new flooring. The closets and corners were the slowest parts for us, but we all got pretty good at it!
New floors in, Lullaby cleaning up! Woohoo! Still no fridge, dishwasher or oven.
Swishy was playing with Lullaby, but then her break was over and she went back to work, but he stayed with all the toys and looked like he was playing on his own. Ha ha ha.
All the flooring in the living room, dining room, kitchen and main hallway was finished! Woohoo!
Washer and dryer came! So exciting! We weren't sure they'd be able to get them in, but they fit! Barely.
Dishwasher and oven arrived! Woohoo! The fridge arrived at the same time, but I didn't get a picture of that. It was too wide to fit in the front or back door, so we had to take the door off of the hinges. Ha ha ha. They worked really hard and we were SO happy! We went 13 days without a fridge, and it was tricky!
Back to work, this time in the kid room. Another one done!

We bought a tv the day before the fridge came, and that was a welcomed addition too. The kids were so excited!

On to what is now Paul's office, but had been our bedroom while we were doing most of the renovations. Here are some good before pictures of the room.

The kids still slept on mattresses on the floor, which no one seemed to mind.
Matix made a new friend, Chase, a boy in our neighborhood with a brown dog named Zeke. Swishy wanted very little to do with him, but they all went for walks together anyway.

All the renovations done by New Year's Eve had only been 17 days of work. I am so impressed, looking back at all our work. We did SO much!

Beach break at sunset, yes please. Carrots and hummus on the beach are one of our favorite dinners.
Another day, another project. Paul fixed and replaced these pipes on the back of the house. He's amazing.
New Year's Eve came quickly, and we went to Hanalei to enjoy the last sunset of the year! Good bye 2022! Swishy came with us.
Then I got this reminder on FaceBook, of that time 5 years ago, doing the same thing. I love it!
