Our goal was to finish doing the new flooring in the living room by Christmas. It was a close one, but we finished on Christmas Eve! Hooray! There was a steep learning curve, and once we figured it out, it went a lot faster, but we didn't get to that point until we did the bedrooms.
I broke the best flooring tool. Dang it.
Paul built our mailbox with a part of a clothes hanging pole we found in the back yard.
Getting paint for several house projects... We didn't really do one room at a time, since the whole house needed to be fixed, altered, improved, etc...
Priming and painting the wood in the closets.
The small closet in the carport that held the water heater, had been sealed shut, with the water heater leaking from October until we got to Kauai in December. We had to remove the water heater and take it to the dump, and then we got to cleaning and treating the walls for all the mold that had grown. It was a lot of work, but Paul did a great job getting it ready for a new tankless water heater, and shelves for the tools.
Painting the green bathroom and laundry room to a nicer teal. Solace was great at getting all the cracks and trim before I used the roller.
Lullaby and Hawken painted in the living room and I started imagining up what I wanted to do for a mural here. I finished the base coat for the mural wall, but skipped cutting the top edge.
We went to Uncle Ron's Nursery for our tree again this year, and again, he wouldn't let us pay. This same thing happened 5 years ago when we got our Christmas tree from him. So sweet. This time we got bananas.
Our suitcases with all our clothes stayed open in a small area of the living room, since we didn't have any useable closets, or dressers yet. Snow Baby found a great spot to sleep in, of course. She could care less about the chaos happening around her.
Beach break until the sun went down.
Getting ready for Christmas! We still hadn't received our things, so we had no stockings, or decorations, other than our small tree and a string of lights. The kids decorated these little cheap stockings to use for that year.
Always helpful. We finished the flooring in the living room and main hallway to the bedrooms just in time for Christmas, as was our plan.
Christmas Eve at the Greenleaf's house, as usual. We made pancakes, talked story and had a great time. Stella and Scott also got the kids gifts. They are so sweet to include us!
More pictures from Stella's camera. She and Scott are the best at picture taking.
Back to the house to read Twas The Night Before Christmas, but Jolie was already asleep, so we listened to a person on YouTube recite it... But I bet I could by heart too. Then we watched a Christmas Carol. I also took these cute Christmas pictures of the kids.
The kids went to bed and Santa and I got to work. It was a very humble Christmas, but everyone got things they wished for, and everyone gave things they saved up to buy for someone else. It was an awesome day. No cinnamon rolls, or couches to sit on, or nativity scene to set up, but we loved it. Happy to be in a place that feels like "home".
We FaceTimed with Great-Grandma Berg for a little while. Then we headed to the beach where we FaceTimed with Grandma Kim and Grandpa Louie, Auntie Jolie, and Avia and Pops.
We cleaned up and went to church for a lovely sacrament meeting and then home again. It was a full day, and so so nice. Merry Christmas!
Happy with their gifts and ready for an air fryer dinner while we watched a movie on the floor. Merry Christmas!
