hair cuts

At the end of April (I know, I am VERY behind!) the kiddies got hair cuts. Matix was first. His hair grows so fast, it's already long again. :)

Paul jokingly said he was done after just the top middle was cut... Matix wasn't amused. :)  Afterward, it looked very nice, and he was pleased.

Hawken was next and only wanted a trim. Handsome as ever.

Then Sully kept begging for his turn. We have never given him a haircut, and at 2 and 1/2 years old, he certainly needed a trim. We weren't planning on it, but when does your 2 year old BEG for the trimmers? We did;t want to miss the opportunity. Paul used the clippers and didn't change the setting from Matix short hair cut, so as he started, I filmed it... After watching, I won't be posting. All you hear is my whining voice. :) It was very emotional to me. Paul cut off the baby hair from my BABY, which instantly made him older. It was so sad. But Solace does look very handsome with it short.

love songs

The day Hawken decided that he wanted to write love songs for each other and then sing them... was possibly the best day. He is such a sweet boy. I love him so much. :)

Into the Woods

Laurel played the part of "Jack's Mother" in the play Into the Woods. She did such a fabulous job, not just with the singing parts (we all know how talented she is at singing), but the acting too. It was a really fun play, and so much fun to go and watch her on stage again.  I went with Laurel's mom and nephews.

Laurel's hair and makeup was awesome. Joshua, Caleb and Deb were really proud of her (I was too).

Joshua asked the wolf for his signature on his playbill. So cute! The wolf's mom took a picture of the event, and I took a picture of it all.

Yay Laurel! You can see her makeup better in this picture. The furrowed brow, the bags under her eyes, the grayed hair. So good!

Also, for my hair, I tried out a new thing and I like it! Especially with the purple fading to blue/gray. Love it!

cute

Lullaby lets me braid her hair however I want to as long as I come up with a fancier name for it than the regular name. This fish-tail braid is called a mermaid-tail braid in our house.  Just so you know.

2 years old

Solace is a lot of work. He frustrates me and wears me out like you wouldn't believe. He dumped the sprinkles out on the table. The kind that look like small balls, that bounce when they hit the floor and roll into every crevice of your house immediately... He rolled them around and had a lovely little sensory experience.  Not my favorite morning activity.

But then there's days like this, where we played super heroes in my bed while I got some laundry folded. Then after I came back for round 2 after dropping off some loads upstairs, I found him like this. While he was waiting, he passed out. Sweetest baby ever. I know.  Which makes me almost forget about the sprinkles. Almost.

more friends

Playing the Wii at Logan's house was probably the highlight of Matix and Hawken's day, every day that this happened.Logan is such a sweet boy and a great friend.

Lullaby and Summer got along well too and Solace just tagged around with them, whether they liked it or not. Usually not, but they dealt with it. :)

friends

Realizing that our time in Texas was drawing to a close, we wanted to make sure to hang out with some of the favorite friends before leaving. Yvette, and her little brother Alex are 2 of Lullaby and Solace's besties. They are good kids, and have a really nice momma too. I was glad we could see them as much as we did in our last couple months there. Saying good-bye is always hard.

ice cream

Going to Menchies for frozen yogurt is always a favorite. I don't remember why we had gone on this day, but the kids had a blast, as usual, you can tell by the size of Sully's chocolate mustache...

recycle

Matix is a maker. He loves creating things and using his imagination. Sometimes he gets ideas and uses typical materials, other times he creates things from trash or other irregular objects. This particular EARLY morning, he made a robot. So clever.

preschool

This preschool year was fun for lots of reasons that were different from the previous year. We tried out some new things, like grown butterflies from caterpillars, which was FASCINATING to do.

There was also a funny love triangle between Lullaby and 2 of her little friends. Lullaby and Jackson had already planned out their wedding, and then Christian wanted in on the wedding plans, so Lullaby would go back and forth between the two trying do decide who she should marry. She was very relieved to know that she didn't need to choose a husband until she was much older.

flooding again

Houston rain is no joke. It flooded in Houston near the bayou two years in a row while we lived in Texas, but thankfully the area we lived in (closer to Pearland), and especially our neighborhood, never did. Our yard got really puddley while it was raining, but never enough that we were in any danger.

The rain would stop pretty quickly and the skies would clear, and then we got to play in the puddles. And when I say puddles, I mean, knee deep ponds in your front yard. :)

snuggles

Solace is a momma's boy. He always has been. I don't think I will ever get sick of these snuggles, he's such a sweet thing. Part of it, I'm sure, is because he's the baby, but part of it is just his personality. I love him.

package

Lullaby got a "just because" package from Grandma Kim with some extra cute candies to use for her tea party (which didn't happen until a few days before we left Houston).  They were meant to be used to make pretzels with little flowers of candies on top, but the pretzels were eaten and then I couldn't find that kind, so we served the candies in a bowl. You'll see pics of that soon. :) Thanks Grandma.
