our beach
We rode our bikes down to our neighborhood beach one of the evenings Lee and Stacy were here. Stacy hunted for seashells, and Lee walked with Lullaby out on the rocks. Paul and Sully had fun with the shells. The boys played in the little waves, and I took pictures. Everything was as it should be. It's such a lovely beach, I'm glad it's ours and we can go there whenever we want.
The bike ride there and back was tricky to figure out. We have only 2 adult bikes. So we borrowed another adult bike from Makenzie, had one of the adults ride Maitx's bike, Lullaby and Solace were in the carrier, and Matix had to ride with Paul. We figured it out, but I was happy to get to ride the adult bike on the way home, on the way there I got the short stick and had to ride Matix's bike. Thankfully Stacy is a good sport and took a turn on it. Thanks Stacy!
Waimanalo Beach
We tried to go to Bellos Beach with our friends and Paul's parents, but it was closed. Maybe too many jellyfish? We went on down the road to a very large, and completely empty beach, Waimanalo Beach. It was so beautiful. The water was cold, and it was windy that day, so we mostly played on the shore. Plus there were signs for Man-of-War jellyfish, and we didn't really feel like being stung.
This girl is too beautiful, and has such a big personality. She cannot be contained.
The grownups dug a huge pit for the kids to play in, and try to fill with water.
I attempted to make a mermaid for Lullaby, and Paul built a boat like Roosie had taught us so long ago. (Emma was mad that she didn't know how to make one)
And just before leaving, we saw a few little baby jellyfish washing up on the shore. I told the kids not to touch them, but Lullaby just had to try it. She got stung. The lifeguard gave us some vinegar spray to neutralize it, which helped after a few minutes of screaming pain. Poor thing. But I bet she'll never touch one again.
big waves
We went up to the North Shore one day after school, in hopes of catching the tail end of the Hawaiian Surf Pro competition, but we missed it. The waves were still pretty big and there were still several surfers still out there braving the water, but it wasn't the actual competition. They start really early in the morning. We watched in awe! It was really great!
The kids even decided to boogie board a little bit with Paul. And of course, run from the waves. The Flores girls adopted Lee as a surrogate Grandpa. They met us up there.
I'm so happy that Paul is a fun dad. He makes life so awesome for these kids.
Banyon Tree Beach
More snorkeling! This time, we went to Banyon Tree Beach for some secluded beach time. Such a beautiful beach!
Makaha
We took Lee and Stacy out to Makaha beach the same day as we went to Pipes. Paul caught just a handful of waves, but it was fun for his parents to be able to see him surf in person.
Lullaby and Grandpa stayed busy on the beach digging holes. Also, this was her favorite hair style for a couple weeks. She calls it "Panda Ears". Cute!
Grandma and Sully were there too, but he wanted to walk down the beach and climb the trees, and Grandma followed him along.
