skiing AGAIN.

The kids last day of skiing was in APRIL, if you can believe it. It is still snowing in the mountains, even now. We went two days before the resort closed.  This day, after doing the bunny hill a couple times, the boys wanted to try out a BIG hill. It wasn't huge, but it was way faster than the bunny slopes.  They actually did very well and fell far less than we expected. It was really cold and windy this day too, so they had to learn how to move with all the added layers.

Eating as much of the white stuff as they could cram in their mouths. So funny.

I am seriously so proud of these little guys for figuring out this skiing thing so easily. I can hardly wait for next ski season... and hopefully we can make it back up here for a bit.  Here is a quick video of the FAST hill. I couldn't film as much because we were busy running along side of them. :)

After this long day, they were exhausted. They worked so hard and that fast run was a loooong one.  They slept really well that night.  Here they are on the lift down. Tired.

fun

Kipp and Krystal (and kids) came over and I was watching Kyler and we played in the neighbors' backyard with ALL the kiddies. It was too much fun.  They have ride on toys, shovels, a playground, a basketball hoop, bikes, balls, you name it.

Kipp and Paul played a weird game of h.o.r.s.e. Kipp won.

Paul bought the boys their first full sized skateboard and this was the nicest day we had to try it out. All the kids took turns on it.  Riding it sitting down and standing up.

Yet another fun day with cousins...

early anniversary!

One evening after dinner, I put Lulli down and was going to get the boys ready for bed when Paul said, "Okay, are you ready to go?" He had already told Grandma Berg we were going out but it was a surprise to me. Hooray! He is actually getting good at this surprise thing! Grandma took care of the boys for us while we hit the town. Steph took some pictures before we left. I was also 22 weeks exactly. Check out that belly!

We drove to downtown Salt Lake City and parked. I still had no idea until I saw Capital Theatre! So exciting! Ballet West was performing "Jewels". One of my favorites from Balanchine.

The inside of the theatre was gorgeous. Paul got really good seats and we had such a nice time. Ballet West was a LOT better than I thought they were. They put on a beautiful ballet. I was very impressed.  On the way to and from the ballet we talked and talked and talked. Paul explained that because our wedding anniversary is at the end of May (right when he plans on studying for the STEP3) he wanted to celebrate it early when we wouldn't be stressed. I have the most thoughtful hubby.  He flattered me with all that gushy stuff girls want to hear and had the best time. Happy (almost) 7 years to us!!

I couldn't have created a better partner in this life. He and I compliment each other in ways I didn't know I needed complimenting. :) We work well together and are passionate about similar things. We love our kids and our adventures together.  After 7 years, I am still crazy about this guy. 

skiing day 2

Our second day skiing with the kids was the day after we got back from our Arizona Easter. The boys were really excited, and the weather was actually pretty warm. The snow was slushier than I like, but it made for really slow and easy runs for the boys. They did SO well this day. Very few falls.  Getting their boots and skis was much faster this time, now that they knew what they were doing.

Going too fast down the bigger bunny hill.  There weren't many of these moments this day, so I'm glad I caught one on film.  He was perfectly safe and not really going very fast.  Just scared.

When it was time to leave Matix had a breakdown and couldn't stop crying. Well, that was until he remembered after skiing, we always get hot chocolate (a perk to working there and knowing nice managers like Devon).

treats

Steph has been coming over to make tasty treats with me. She is a Pinterest-y girl. :) We tried three new recipes she found.  The first two were made another day and were all gobbled up by the time I thought to take a picture.

One was cream cheese monkey bread (which made a HUGE mess) which was good and not too sweet. The other was lemon blueberry bars which was amazing. Amazing. We will be making those again. Pics next time. The last day we made desserts, it literally took ALL afternoon. Several hours of stirring and baking and adding layer after layer to this fancy treat. I don't remember what it was called, but this is what it looks like...

The salt on top is some fancy french sea salt that Steph paid $15 for a little container.  The treat was killer. Seriously, the tastiest treat ever. It's been so fun spending so much time with Steph. I wish she wasn't as busy as she is so she could hang out even more. :)

cousins

The next couple days after we got back from Arizona, cousin Kyler came over to play! It was so much fun having a BIG kid around (he is 5). The boys were so happy and he kept them busy all day. Mason also came over to play one of the days too. These four boys together were so cute to watch, and busy. Holy cow, four boys, are a LOT of boys. :) All the boys had good behavior that day, but the energy level was exhausting...

We have been talking a lot about going to Texas. I want that transition to be smooth, but after a few comments like,

"Can Mason and Kyson come with us?" - Matix
"I think maybe I will just stay with Grandpa Berg." - Hawken

It might be a little rough. The kids all love it here and having so many grandparents and aunts and uncles and especially all the cousins is something we have never had before. It's a luxury and we are soaking it up. They are excited to see their new house (so am I) and go to the Lego store with cousin Gavin again... Think smooth transition-y thoughts for us.

kids say...

Today, Paul and I got to sub for Hawken's class at church. It was so cute to see him interacting with his friends and answering the questions we had for him and participating in the group. After that class was finished, all the junior Primary classes came back together for "singing time" and then "sharing time".  After singing a few songs about spring and robins and flowers and other spring-y things... 

The teacher said, "Did you like that song?" 

Matix said, "NO! I don't like that song. It has ROBBERS in it!"

The teacher processed that for a second and then said, "No, not robbers, ROBINS. Birds."

All the teachers had a little giggle. It was pretty cute. I wonder why he thought we would be singing about how much we love robbers in the springtime... :)

Then later during sharing time, the children were asked who were some of Jesus' apostles... Some children knew some and were calling out their names, and our sweet Hawken piped up and shouted,

"Peter Pan!"

I wonder what the other teacher thought we had been teaching him and the other Sunbeams in class today... ?? :) I love kids.

Back to Utah

Our trip to Arizona was way too short, but fun. It was so nice to see the Ryans get married and spend Easter morning with Paul's parents and sister.  The Arizona weather was nice to us too.

The drive back was beautiful and of course Matix and Hawken needed to stop every couple of hours or so to make their mark on the side of the road.  Other than that, it was a smooth trip. I love that our kids are such good travelers.

The kids missed Grandma and Grandpa Berg and talked about them the whole way back. They missed their cousins too. It going to be really hard when we leave Utah for more than 4 days... Poor things.
