Rodeo!

We went the Houston Rodeo while Lee and Stacy were visiting and the kids had a blast. One of the first things we did was watch Linnaea do the mutton busting sheep races. The sheep were way faster than I thought they would be. Linnaea and Hawken were the only kids from our group that were the right age, but Hawken wanted nothing to do with it.

We had to wait for a long time, so Sully kept himself busy dancing and popping bubbles.

And Grandma bought all the kids snow cones, and popcorn, and cotton candy. You have to love fair food. :) Thanks Grandma!

Linnaea did GREAT on the sheep and made it almost all the way to the other side! It was very exciting!

Grandpa took the boys on the big ferris wheel, and then later he took the girls on the smaller ferris wheel. Thanks Grandpa! The height restrictions messed everything up this year.

Hawken, Gavin and Matix went on the big slide, racing together. Matix "won" the race, and Gavin, true to form, said, "Well the pink slide always goes fastest…" Sure Gavin. :)

Then Lullaby and Paul went on the slide together. She made scared faces the whole way down, then she smiled and said she loved it.  So funny.

Paul and I tried WAY too many times to win this silly game for Lullaby so she could get a strawberry Shopkins stuffed animal. Finally I won it for her and she could not have been more pleased!

Then of course, the boys needed a prize too. Matix wanted a big Pikachu, Hawken wanted the big Squirtle. That took even more time. But Paul did it! Yay! Sully got a little monkey, and a couple other little monkeys for his cousins. :)

We went inside to see some of the prize livestock. Guess who we met? Sully the sheep. We had to take a picture.

Pig races. These were fun too.

We also learned about honey bees and other animals and insects that we need.

The kids planted a few sunflower seeds (which grew and we planted in the garden and then Sakina dug up… Oh well).

There was also a quilt show inside. I had to take a picture of this one for my mom and grandma to admire. It was behind glass and had wood from the case blocking part of it, but SO amazing. Everything was hand stitched and very precise.

Here are some more pics from the fun day! It was so much fun having a big group of family there with us too. The kids especially loved having Grandma and Grandpa there!  This will most likely be the last rodeo for a while for the kids, and I'm glad we got the chance to go.
