sick

We are all SICK. :( Both babies and Paul have a slight fever, and I have a pretty bad one (102+). We all feel achy and sluggish. I can hardly walk without feeling like I might pass out and fall over and I haven't been able to eat for over a day now (with the exception of a piece of bread for lunch today)...
I hate being sick. I spent 90% of the day laying on the couch while Paul tried to take care of our mommas boys. Paul is so good to me. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially that the babies will get better soon. I have so many fun activities planned this week and am hoping to feel better soon so we can go to some of them... At least our hidden blessing was that we all got sick AFTER the final, so Paul can stay at home and help me.

in the eyes of child

While at play group recently, Matix and Hawken got their hands on this Ken doll. Super tan, muscular, bleach blonde Ken. Matix immediately brings it to me and says, "Dada!" :) I asked, "Do you think this looks like Dada?" Matix says, "Oh, yeah." :)
Maybe after this break, all the time at the beach, in the sun and carrying heavy babies, he will start to look more like Ken. :) I love you hubby!

Done with semester 3!

Paul took his final yesterday for 3rd semester and is feeling GOOD! :) Hopefully the results will reflect all the effort he always puts in. We are one step closer to......
Dr. William Paul Berg!!!!
Since Paul is now officially on break, we get to play ALL day! Well, most of the day. He is reviewing a few things each day to make sure he is ready when 4th semester comes around. But he still spends the majority of the day with us and we are SO excited for all the fun things we will be doing this break. Tomorrow will be Red Rock Haven with a bunch of friends. Pictures coming soon.

And, yes (in response to the emails), we ARE okay. :) Our internet was out for a few days and is fixed now. I will yet again be playing catch up in the days and blog posts to come.

trucks

They have been working on building this grocery store for the LoNgEsT time... Although I am anxious for it to be finished, Matix is more than happy waiting.
He LOVES to watch them working... All the trucks, the loud noises and especially the nice workers. Matix is a fiend for attention and loves that the workers always smile and wave to him. His happiest day was when this guy reached down from his HUGE truck (or whatever it's called) and motioned him over to it.

Matix ran so fast to him and the guy picked him up and let him drive!! What an exciting day it was for Matix.

He drove for a minute or so down the street and around the corner (Hawken in the stroller and I pushing him trying to keep up) until the guy put him back down.
Now every time we see that particular worker (I still don't know his name), Matix will point to any close vehicle and ask him "go?" :) Only in Dominica is it acceptable and not surprising that a construction worker would take a few minutes from his job to let a little kid drive his truck. Love it.

party ideas

Matix's friend from nursery had a birthday party a little while ago. Her name is Avery and her mom (Sarah) had a bunch of great birthday ideas... Yes, I will be stealing some very soon... :) It was a very fun day for all of us.

They did finger painting which Matix thought was great (after the first initial shock of me wanting him to get messy).

This is Caleb (Avery's little brother). He had fun painting too. Can you tell? :)

Hawken just hung out at the pool. Being cute and happy.

On the topic of birthdays... Lately we have been having a lot of them, and because of that, we have been singing the birthday song lots too. Here's the funny thing. Every time we sing this particular song, Matix screams and cries... WHAT? :) Since Matix's birthday is coming up and we want to sing to him we have been trying to prep him for the singing part with NO luck. Any ideas? :)

couch diving

In exactly 1 month, Matix will be 2!!!!!! If you ask him how old he is, he already says, "TWO!" and then giggles. I just can't get over how quickly this goes by... I am so thankful for cameras, blogs, journals, etc. so I can remember so many of the little day to day things that I love so much. Today I want to remember this... Matix climbing up the side of the couch, yelling "I go!" or "Whoa!" and flipping himself over the side into the pillows. He lands upside down and laughs forever. Then he repeats the whole thing again and again and again.

cookie

Guess who found a chocolate cookie? Hawken looking as innocent as possible with Matix's left over chocolate cookie smeared all over his face... Both Hawken and Matix laughed and laughed when I finally noticed, and I just shook my head. 2 boys. Huh. :)

Paul and Hawken

Paul walked Hawken around... Well, actually Hawken walked Paul around on the beach and pier. Hawken had just been rinsed off from all the black sand in EVERY crevice and Paul wanted to keep him clean... I love little baby bums! Too cute! I'm sure these pictures will haunt him later on in his life! :)

Semester 3, Exam 3

Paul is currently taking his last mini exam of the semester. When he gets home he will see his usual congratulations sign. :) Matix always enjoys making it and then hanging it on the door. Then we are off to the pool for a done with mini #3 party/my pool party birthday...

Today I am 26! Closer to 30 than to 20 and LoViNg every minute! :) Birthday massages, cards, presents, this year I have been given the works! :) Thanks to everyone, especially Paul, for making my day, week and month so special!

together

These boys are going to be great friends, I just know it. They are so close in age and have such similar sweet, happy personalities. They really love to be together.

Although Matix still likes to do some things by himself and will say "no no baby" if Hawken gets too close, mostly he wants to be with Hawken. When Matix goes in the other room, he will get Hawken's attention "go baby!" and then run, and of course, Hawken follows. Hawken usually follows though no matter what Matix says. :)
When we leave the house to go anywhere, I will ask Matix, "Do you think we should take the baby with us?" (as if I would leave him if the answer were no...:) and Matix always says "YEAH!" As if to say, great idea mom! That would be so fun!

Outside, inside, it doesn't matter, they just want to be together. And that makes me happy.

random again.

Another random post. Sorry. :) First, Matix always loves to be snuggled and held. When he is getting sleepy, this is especially true. BUT, when he is in the stroller, it isn't an option to cuddle him. Lately he has been asking to hold our hands. He will stick his little hand out of the stroller and say "hand...???" in the saddest little voice you have ever heard. So of course, we hold his hand and walk, stooped over, but loving every second.

Hawken tried coconut milk for the first time a few weeks ago, and LOVES it. Of course he does. :)

My boys have never been picky eaters (or drinkers). With the exception of regular milk. Obviously Hawken isn't drinking cows milk yet, but Matix SHOULD be. He never liked it though. We tried it warm, cold, CHOCOLATE milk... We really tried everything we could think of. That was until we discovered "tutti fruity milk". Yes, it is as disgusting as it sounds (to adults), but Matix LOVES it. It is regular cows milk with fruity flavoring added. Matix now drinks it everyday after his nap. We are in the process of adding regular milk in with it to slowly transition him to enjoying regular milk. Hooray!

We like to make pizza for dinner. Matix is our big helper, especially with FOOD. :)

One of the days we made pizza, we had pepperoni. Yum! Matix used them like chips and would scoop up some of the sauce and take a bite. :) So clever.

Last for this random post is Hawken with things in his mouth. I though Matix put lots of things in his mouth when he was a baby, but no. Hawken literally puts EVERYTHING in his mouth.

And sometimes leaves it there to go about his regular activities. Silly boy. I am just so thankful that he is mainly interested in BIG objects. Most things are so big he can only get part of it in there.

random

This is a random post... I have MUCH to catch up on, so there may be a few like this. :) To start... Here is a new fruit we tried. I can't remember what it is called, but both Paul and I thought it was gross. :) Both of the boys ate it up like candy though.

Playing at the river. I like this picture because you can see Hawken's 2 bottom teeth really well. He has already popped through his top left tooth, and is trying to get the top right all the way through. He is not as cranky though, so I think it will be soon. :)

At the beach with Daddy. Paul decided for the first time in 3 semesters to take a break. An unscheduled, random day, 2 hour break. It was lovely! :) We went to the beach and the pool. The boys had the best time playing with their Daddy.

Matix has been going poop in the toilet a lot lately. We are SO proud of him! After he goes, we dance and clap for him. He also gets to color with markers, which is a treat for him. This is a picture of him with Paul and Hawken playing the toilet lid drums. Silly boys.

mail

We are starting to get letters and birthday cards... Tis the season for half our family! :) My birthday is on Wednesday, and Matix's is about a month after that! Thanks Mom, Dad, Heather and Hunter for the letters and cards. I love you guys!

Also on Wednesday is Paul's last mini exam of the semester. Then a week after that is his final exam... Please send good thoughts, well wishes and prayers for him! :) We're proud of you Paul!

Mine!

Hawken LOVES to take Matix's paci... Maybe it's because Matix shouldn't have a paci anymore... ? I think I need it more than he does! Anyway...

Hawken approaches. Ever so cooly. Notice Hawken already has his OWN paci, but would prefer to have Matix's.

Then he goes in for the kill. Matix bites down as hard as he can.

But ultimately, Matix is unable to combat the sheer brute strength of his baby brother. And Hawken quickly spits out his own paci and puts Matix's in.

playground

The playground has been a favorite spot of ours lately... Sand for digging in and getting messy, a fast slide, cool breeze, perfect day.
I love these pictures!

Getting Daddy

Usually Paul meets us at home for lunch, but lately, Matix wants to go get him from school. I love that the boys are so in love with their Daddy. :)

The picture doesn't show how many steps are on the way to Paul, but there are probably 10 little flights like this one with little landings in between each one... It makes for quite the journey, since BOTH boys prefer to do it themselves. :) Matix is very much in the "I can do it myself" phase, and Hawken just wants to do whatever Matix is doing. And yes, Hawken CAN climb stairs by himself...

Sometimes we get there before class lets out and we have to wait... That is the hardest part, waiting. Luckily there are tons of lockers with TOYS hanging from them. :) Well, the boys think they're toys... Whatever works, right?
