Paul Update

Paul is finished with his SURGERY CORE ROTATION!!! It was a pretty long 12 weeks, but it could have been worse.  He was gone a lot, wasn’t recognized at work for all the good things he was doing, he missed out on some of our family adventures, and got taken advantage of by fellow interns for his willingness to help.  BUT, he also got a lot of good experience, and he participated in quite a few surgeries (cholecystectomies, appendectomies, colectomies, hemmeroidectomies, and lots of abscess popping… yuck!), and followed two very knowledgeable doctors.

These are some pictures of Paul and his words to sum up his experience during his surgery rotation:
“Sometimes you get crapped on, but you just have to sit on it and ride it all the way home…”
His bike got pooped on everyday. If it wasn’t enough to ride 10 miles up and down hills in the heat and humidity, just to get yelled at by the doctors, and to volunteer to take other’s shifts without a thank you, he had to sit on bird poop and ride back home. I love my hard working hubby, and I am SO glad he will get to relax a bit in his next rotation, Psychiatry, for the next 6 weeks.   This will be his last core rotation, and after that he will be done with this 3rd year of medical school and will start his elective year. HOORAY!!!!
