beach clean up

Paul signed up our family for a beach clean up day. First we learned about native plants, which ones were good for the beach and which ones were invasive. We planted them and everyone got to help. The kids, especially Hawken - our little farmer, loved it.

There was a complete rainbow from the ocean to the land, and a bit of a double rainbow right above it. You really cannot beat the amount of rainbows we see here. So beautiful.

Hawken also built a stone wall around his plants to protect them from people stepping on them until they are bigger and stronger.

Matching toes, Lullaby painted them weeks earlier and it was STILL there.

After we were finished planting, we went into the sand and helped collect, sort count and document what trash was in our given area for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), who wants to know what trash is on what beach, and how much of it. They can track it and find out where it's coming from, either from us, or another island and it's brought with the water. It was very interesting to learn about. After we were done with our one small area, we picked up the rest of the beach until our bags were full and we were all tired.
