friend birthday

My friend Pam, from Oahu, set up an amazing birthday surprise for her hubby Jeff, and flew him over to see us for a day of free diving with Paul. We picked him up from the airport and the fun began! First they went to 2-step. 

Of course after they went out the kids all wanted to go out too, Matix and Lullaby went out on their own in the open ocean. They're great swimmers and they brought a boogie board if they needed to rest. They saw all kinds of great stuff out there and convinced Solace and Hawken to come out with them, so then all the kids and I went out exploring. 2-Step is amazing. You can see the bright yellow bits from above the water, those are FISH!

Then to lunch and to another beach, 69. Paul and Jeff headed out and I played with the kids at the rope swings and in the water. All was fun and games until Lullaby stepped on a huge urchin and got spines stuck in the bottom of her foot. It left three small purple spots, and we hoped they'd stay as a tattoo, but it healed up and cleared out in a day or so.  She was super brave about it and ended up walking on it just an hour or so later.

After dinner, we drove Jeff back to the airport to go home. It was a whirlwind trip, but so fun. I was glad to be a part of his birthday surprise! Paul made this dive video from some of the things they did and saw.
