Student of the WEEK!

Matix was chosen to be the student of the week for his kindergarten class. We got a poster board and filled it with a million fun pictures. He had pictures from every state (and country) he's lived in and lots of fun facts. He's been on 28 airplane rides, he's the oldest kid in his family, he knows how to ride a bike without training wheels... You know, all the important stuff. :) All his friends liked it and he was very proud to have his poster hanging in the hall for everyone to see.
Matix has also been loving the reward/punishment system in his classroom. Each day, each child begins in the "ready to learn" area, and as the day progresses, the teacher rewards the children with good behavior by moving their name tags UP to "good choices" and UP again to "wonderful behavior". Likewise, if he has bad behavior, he gets his name tag  moved DOWN the chart. When his name tag is at the top of the chart at the end of the day (and it often is), then he gets a hole punch in his name tag, and after a certain amount of punches, he gets to pick a prize. He comes home with prizes all the time. He loves positive reinforcement and the idea of working toward a PRIZE. Mrs. Miller is very pleased with him in class and says he's a wonderful student.

Those OLDEST children are always so cooperative and eager to please! Know any other oldest children? Hm?

Matix has lived in some pretty awesome places and has experienced more life than most old people. I love the poster! I remember going to Paul's parent/teacher conferences and listening to the teachers brag about him. I thought that a little odd at the time. I'm so glad Matix is enjoying school. :)
