Grandma Kim came to visit on Hawken's birthday, and stayed for a couple days to go to the party too. Hawk's birthday was a long time coming and he sure LOVED having his special day finally be here. He was completely spoiled by all his grandparents and great grandparents and siblings. Thank you!
Grandma brought a little something for the other kids to open too, which is always so sweet.
Then a few days after his real birthday, we had his party. It was a viking/dragon party and turned out just how he wanted it, except at the last minute he decided he didn't want to cut his hair. He had wanted it to be cut into a mohawk, but changed his mind. The food table was everything dragon, and turned out cute.
The last time Grandma Stacy was here to visit, she had brought out lots of fabric scraps and things to transform the party goers into vikings. The kids liked dressing up (not as much as Hawken did, but hey, it's his party) and getting their pictures taken in this makeshift photo booth.
At some point during the party, Paul slipped out and made this viking boat for pictures. So crafty! I think he loved it the most. :)
The piƱata was a basket of fish (a favorite food of dragons - according to the movie How To Train Your Dragon) and since it had been raining on and off all week, the backyard was way too puddly for candy to land on. So, we utilized the cul-de-sac and it was perfect. It was a bit crazy with all the kids, but everyone got some treats and had fun.
After a while, we sang to the birthday boy, and ate cupcakes, and then he wanted to open his presents. And boy oh boy, was this 5 year old SPOILED. He was SO happy and thankful for everything. He has such sweet friends.
Of course all of the toys were opened and played with immediately. A new favorite game is this marshmallow launcher. What a clever and fun idea.
Lullaby and Linnaea sat back on the couch during all the craziness, helping themselves to as much candy as they could shove in their mouths.
My mom's viking hat made the rounds. It was so fun, and she let us keep it! Woo hoo!
Here's the video of the day. Our viking boy! Happy 5th birthday Hawk!
