Last night was when we informed Hawken that his birthday was today. He gets really excited about things and has a hard time waiting, so we figured just one sleep would be perfect for him. We were right. He was SO excited and went right to sleep. We woke up and RAN out of his room, ready for his day.
He opened the gifts from us, and all the family that mailed him packages and cards. He got Legos from his daddy and is planning on spending his birthday money on more of the mini-figures. Thank you's go to all the grandparents and great-grandparents for the gifts and money.
Hawken is such a sweet boy. I am excited that he is closer to the age that he acts, and tells everyone (he still says he is four, somedays five). He knows everything. He can recognize lots of letters and has been able to write his letter "H" for 6 or more months now.
He can sing and recite things from memory. He likes to wrestle and run and jump and be a wild boy. He loves to be outside and naked and free. He has his own sense of style. He always has food on his face and dirt under his nails.
Hawken loves routine, and wants to know the next ten moves at any given moment in his day. He is silly and loves making people laugh. He doesn't think he is younger than his brother, but he calls Matix big, and himself tiny. He puckers up his lips like fish when he leans in for a kiss.
Hawken is good to his friends, but hoards toys from Lullaby and Matix. He usually lays on top of them to protect them. He eats and eats and eats. He is always hungry. He is kind and gentle and will always give kisses to his family. He gave up some of his birthday money to his brother so he could pick out a toy too, all on his own.
He loves to be in charge, but will always give others a turn if they ask. He loves to scare people and be the bad guy, and will reassure you while playing that he is only pretending. He is sweet and feisty and perfect. We love our little Hawkitos! Happy 3rd Birthday baby!

I can hardly wait to get my arms around the birthday boy (and everyone else too!) Happy birthday to Grandma's Big Boy!!
Give that cute boy a hug and kiss from his great grandparents!
You really know your kids well. He is a huge character in a little body - even if he is 3. Love you Hawken! :)
