For family home evening, we went to the zoo. Paul had a rare evening off and we made the most of it, although he should have been sleeping! We talked about the animals and how they are a blessing given to us by Heavenly Father. We talked about how they are all different and wonderful. Paul drew animals cards for the kids to choose. Each had one animal on it.
When we found that animal, then the kid who picked it, acted like it and we took a picture. Simple, but they loved it. Then we read the little info. boards about each animal and had a little discussion. Lullaby picked elephant.
Hawken picked bear. Very fierce!
Matix picked giraffe. Love the long neck he is making!
Paul picked rhino. Love it.
Solace picked sleeping baby ;) and I was in charge of pictures mostly, so none of me. It was a nice activity and we all had fun. We stayed until the zoo closed at 7pm, and they made an announcement that the zoo was now closed. The kids thought we were locked in, and got scared. Poor things. :) Also while we were there we explored some other areas that we haven't been to before.
Lullaby and Hawk got really close to this squirrel! I think if they would have reached out, it may have let them touch it!
This zoo is super fun and we have yet to go everywhere. Thanks Stacy for the passes! We will use them all the time! The petting zoo and playground are still the favorites.

I love the idea about the pics and animal noices game - what a fun idea! That zoo is really great, I can't wait to go back. The middle pic of Solace really looks like Hawken, I think. :)
It looks like a really nice zoo.
what a fun time-- we do "the guess the animal game" for FHE too- but its more charades with sounds ;) so much easier to guess that way!
