We drove from Wisconsin to Minnesota the day after we arrived, and Lullaby did well (for her) on the drive. She still isn't a huge fan of the car seat, so a 4 hour drive wasn't really her favorite. Either way, we arrived, settled into our hotel room and then the next morning we went to the funeral. My grandma did a nice job and I think my grandpa George would have approved. He was very particular about how he lived his life and he was very particular about how he wanted his death to be too. :) It was nice getting to see my aunts and uncles again after so long. They were all cooing over Lullaby, and she ate up all the attention.
Lullaby was SUCH a good baby during the service too. Quiet and sleeping or quiet and looking. Perfect. For part of the service my cousin Calvin played a Chopin piece on the piano, it was my grandpa's favorite, and Calvin did a beautiful job. This is a video of him playing the same piece a year ago when he was only 14. Impressive, right?
The funeral was one of very few I have been to. Jolie made a nice video slideshow of a bunch of pictures of my grandpa during his childhood on into his adulthood. Everyone enjoyed that. After the funeral was a luncheon, and then everyone went back to the hotel. We all stayed at the same hotel, so we got to hang out more and catch up.
