advent day 13

Our advent activity on the 12th was learning the song Jingle Bells. We learned it while we were walking Sakina around our neighborhood. I'm no singer, so there is no way I would document this activity, other than to write about it. The boys learned it quickly and are loving all this Christmas-y stuff!  Advent activity day 13 was to watch Matix's school's winter performance. Paul took a half day so he could come watch too. Matix was so excited to see us, the most excited of any kid to see his/her family. He waved and mouthed words we couldn't understand and smiled and ate up every second leading up to the actual performance.

Then when it came time to perform, he didn't really do much of anything. Although he stood up for the part when his class stood, and put his owl mask on his face (he is in the owl class)... He did not sing one word of the songs he has been practicing every waking moment of the days before.  I took a video of his non-performance. :)

Matix was very happy with all the attention and asked for his picture to be taken with his teacher, Ms. Jessie. He loves her so much.  When he grows up, there are a very few people that he says he will marry, and she is one of them.

Hawken, of course, couldn't stand not being part of all the fun, and crashed part of the performance, but then came back by me to sit down. Later on he wanted his picture taken as an owl.

Matix seems to have stage fright, poor little guy. And Hawken is so much like Paul - always wanting to be like Dale and be with Dale and do what Dale was doing, however, Paul was not quite as aggresive as Hawken seems - no crashing programs. :)

When I watched Matix during the performance, he didn't seem fearful. He really seemed to be attentively watching and listening to the others singing. Not sure why he didn't sing.
