big waves

November is the very very start of the big waves on the North Shore, and they only get bigger! One of the forecasted big days, we drove up to take a look. The rock behind the kids in the water is usually fully exposed and about a 15 foot (or more) drop from the top to the water.

The water is such a beautiful blue, even when the waves are scary. This beach was roped off and we couldn't even play in the sand, it was that dangerous that day.

Matix is such a great tree climber! Look how high he got up on this one!

Hawk is good too, but more realistic about the big picture. He announced that he didn't want to go higher than he was okay with falling.  He's a deep thinker.

Sully of course, had to try it too, but didn't like how it felt on his feet.  "Too shop!" (sharp)

Lullaby found me a perfect heart-shaped leaf. So sweet.

Our friends joined us up there and the kids played for a bit before we headed back to Haleiwa for some Matsumoto's shave ice. Yum!

On the way to the shave ice, we had to send these pictures to Paul for reference. This is Shark's Cove, and the waves hardly ever crash on the back side, and the side closer to us is usually very calm, still water, good for snorkeling. Wow!

We always love and excuse to eat shave ice. Yum!

Matix, you are so BRAVE to climb so high! And Hawken, you are so SMART to be prepared for what could happen! Both being BRAVE and being SMART are very good qualities! We think you are wonderful!

Matix, you are such a monkey! :) My little brother used to climb palm trees too. Those big waves are so scarey, especially those on the rocks.
