Another day at our favorite texas beach Surfside!! We always love this place. The water is a little bluer, sand a little sandier, and the fun times a little more fun. :)Solace crawled around like a wild man and is getting a little more accustomed to the waves splashing up on him when he crawls a little too close to the water.
Then there was drawing pictures in the sand which is still sometimes called "how to train a dragon." You'll have to watch the movie to see why. :) There was also some great sand castle and sand tub making.
This day a lot of the usual water playing happened. The boys surfed with Paul ... well the boys surfed and Paul helped, he doesn't get to actually ride much himself. Hawken and Matix do this cute little thing too where when one is surfing in the other will get close and put out their hand and the one surfing will try to high-five the other (you can see it at the beginning of the video below). :) So cute, they are the best of friends. Lullaby goes out once in awhile to surf, but always finds a way to turn the board sideways, which ends up dumping her into the water while the wave crashes over her. This scares her away for a few hours until she sees the boys going out again, then she wants back on. :) Solace is only interested in the surfboard when its on sand right now, but watches his older brothers and sister heading out to the open sea and I'm sure will follow soon.
Something extra awesome that day was that the boys stood up on the surfboard for the FIRST TIME EVER!!! YAY!!! :). Hawken was the first the get up on his knees and then just popped right up toward the end of one of the rides. Paul was super excited. Matix saw Hawk do it and immediately wanted a go at it. It took a couple waves but he got himself up to his feet and coasted one in. They couldn't make their dad happier when they have fun doing all the board sports that he does. Its a real father / child bonding moment. Paul explained to me that when they get up on the surfboard or roll around he can remember how it felt the first time he did those things and how amazing it was to experience it, almost like flying. :)

I know how I missed writing a comment about this: Grampa Louie and Grandma Evie and I were so amazed at Hawken (and Matix) standing up on the surfboard and surfing in on the wave! We talked and talked about it, and watched the video over and over! We are AMAZED at you. We talked about it so much, I guess I thought I had commented. You kids are amazing and we are so proud of you!!!!!
WOW! :) That is so awesome that the boys are picking up the surfing. I can imagine how Paul must feel. Way to go Hawken and Matix.
