summer trip day 9 & 10

Leaving Arizona wasn't hard. We left on August 1st. It was a million degrees and I got sweaty just thinking about the walk from the house to the car. :) But... leaving grandma and grandpa and auntie Colleen WAS hard. We felt like we just got there and then we had to leave again. This picture was from a few days earlier, but Matix asked, as we were driving away, "Can grandma sit here now?" He wanted to bring her with. :) Cute, but sad. They were not ready for the separation.

We drove a longer length of time the first day and made it through Arizona, and New Mexico, and all the way to Fort Stockton, Texas. Lunch by the railroad tracks in a small town along the way, good naps for all my boys :), small but decent hotel room for the night... Nothing spectacular that day.

We left Fort Stockton and headed to Houston. Paul's brother and his little family just moved back there, and Paul's best friend Brian lives in Austin, and my best friend Laurel was there visiting her family right then too. It was perfect. This drive was a bit more fun. We found the cutest little town to stop in for lunch. The boys ran around and explored and had a great time. It was still pretty hot, so they were wiped out and took great naps again.

We stayed at Laurel's parent's house which happened to be just 10 miles from Paul's brother's apartment. When we arrived it took no time at all for the boys to find things to do. They had a blast!

The night ended for them with a very bubbly bubble bath. They were in heaven! Paul took off to go see his brother and catch up. I stayed and chatted with Laurel. It was a great day. :)

How wonderful that all those important people were so close together to be able to visit! I can tell how hot it still was - the boys' faces are flushed.
