1. My battery refuses to be charged 99% of the time, and only randomly will.
2. The old power cord does not light up when it's plugged in, meaning it isn't sending a charge, with AND without the battery being in.
3. The new power cord ($80, yikes!) does light up, but only when the battery is out.
So, computer-y friends, this one's for you! It's a 2008 Apple MacBook and I love it. Please send help if you have any idea what I should do. Right now, it is only working because I have taken the battery out and have the new power cord plugged in. I am on my way to the Apple store soon to get this figured out.

We will miss your posts, but we will know you are fine and healthy and not sick!!
That is so strange! Something similar happened to Seth's computer, and it was a problem with the battery. He knew that because his computer would charge when he put another battery in. Do you have apple care? They might replace it for you if its defective. From what you're saying, it seems like its a bad battery. Make an appointment with the Genius bar at the Apple store and they'll figure it out for you!
And on another note, those power cords are pricey aren't they? We've had to replace a few ourselves! They're total junk!
I asked Ray, and he said you probably only need a new battery. Hope you can get it figured out! The cooling fan went out on my laptop!
This just happened to Daniel's. He took it in and they fixed the problem. He turned in his old cord for a new one, so they gave him like $20 off. But they also charged him for fixing something else on the computer. It ended up costing about $80 ish. He also bought and installed the new snow leopard! Wow - it's so fast now (that was about $30) Hope they got it figured out for you!
